Re: 2010 Emmy Awards Discussion Thread --> Winners, Losers, Show, etc...

i could see Lost stealing the Drama away from Mad Men this year simply because of sentimental reasons.

started a little early because 1) didn't think many people were aware they are on tomorrow given it is so early in the season.

2) why would there be first-run shows on tomorrow night, especially from nominated Mad Men? i know TiVo and the like but seems like a conflict, especially if Mad Men producers want to tout if they win. thought they usually have repeats (catch up marathons, etc...), especially for Emmy night.

Come on Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler!

The only thing I know is that Jane Lynch seems like a lock.

IMHO, the only lock is The Pacific winning Best Mini-Series.

My predictions:

Drama:
Series: Mad Men
Actor: Michael C. Hall
Actress: Julianna Marguiles
Supporting Actor: Aaron Paul
Supporting Actress: Christina Hendricks

Comedy:
Series: Modern Family
Actor: Jim Parsons
Actress: Edie Falco
Supporting Actor: Neil Patrick Harris
Supporting Actress: Jane Lynch

10 winners from 9 shows.

Poor "Return to Cranford" being the token competition for "The Pacific." Both are great miniseries', though.

Hoping for a 3peat with Bryan Cranston. He fucking deserves it (just finished re-watching Season 3 today).

for Aaron Paul to win. I have a feeling Jon Hamm will win Best Actor, though I think Bryan Cranston deserves a third.

OT: I hope Vincent Kartheiser gets nominated next year. He's been especially good this season, and deserves some recognition.

Archie Panjabi from The Good Wife is a surprise nomination, but she does such a good job week to week playing Kalinda and making her such a mysterious character. She has no shot in hell of winning, but I appreciate seeing her name there.

Who I would like to see win...

Outstanding Drama - Dexter (it's close though because Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Lost are brilliant as well)

Outstanding Actress in a Drama - January Jones (Mad Men)

Outstanding Actor in a Drama - Michael C. Hall (Dexter)

Outstanding supporting actress in a Drama - Christina Hendricks (Mad Men)

Outstanding Comedy - 30 Rock (Nurse Jackie is a close second for me)

Outstanding Actress in a Comedy - Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie)

Outstanding Actor in a Comedy - Alec Baldwin (30 Rock)

Outstanding supporting Actor in a Comedy - I don't know. I haven't seen any of these shows.

Outstanding supporting Actress in a Comedy - Jane Krakowski (30 Rock)

Outstanding Reality Show Host - Phil Keoghan (The Amazing Race)

Outstanding Reality Show Competition - The Amazing Race

Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series - I not voting because Craig Ferguson wasn't nominated.

Miniseries or Movie - haven't seen either one.

Outstanding TV Movie - haven't seen any of them.

Re: 2010 Emmy Awards Discussion Thread --> Winners, Losers, Show, etc...

My choices:

OUTSTANDING DRAMA
Breaking Bad

OUTSTANDING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
I really have no opinion. January Jones is not that great of an actress IMO

OUTSTANDING ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad)

OUTSTANDING ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad)

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Sharon Gless (Burn Notice)
or
Christina Hendricks (Mad Men)

OUTSTANDING COMEDY
Modern Family

OUTSTANDING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation)

OUTSTANDING ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Alec Baldwin (30 Rock)

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Ty Burrell (Modern Family)
or maybe
Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother)
or
Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family)

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) I have seen this woman on Chelsea Lately and the Tonight Show. I'm surprised that someone so attractive can be so genuinely funny.

OUTSTANDING REALITY SHOW HOST
I don't care, but I guess
Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars)

OUTSTANDING REALITY SHOW COMPETITION
the lesser evil:
Dancing with the Stars

OUTSTANDING VARIETY, MUSIC, OR COMEDY SERIES
Saturday Night Live

MINISERIES OR MOVIE
The Pacific (HBO)

OUTSTANDING TV MOVIE
only one I saw and it was OK.
Moonshot (History)
Breaking Bad was so damn good this season, I hope it wins the 3-way. In any case, it better win best drama.

i wish Community got even some love and at least Courtney Cox-Arquette should have been nominated for Cougar Town. those two were very pleasant surprises for me last season.

/\ Indeed, Cox-Arquette is great on Cougar Town, as is the entire supporting cast. Much like Community, Cougar Town is a show that went 80mph in the direction opposite from where you would expect it to, happily.

I'd love to see Breaking Bad sweep. If not, I'm OK with Dexter getting some love. Seriously, if Aaron Paul doesn't get any love this year, the voters are fucking retarded. I have a sinking feeling Lost will get the love in his category and he'll get fucked over yet again.

Regardless of whoever wins or loses, we ALL win when Christina Hendricks shows up!

From Sarah Silverman's twitter feed: Christina Hendricks' tits are nuts.

I don't really watch that much TV anymore so I didn't really pay attention to the Emmys and the nominations. I just happen to have it on in the background, but damn 3 people nominated from the same show in one category? That's kinda lame for other shows out there
