I've been having some difficulty searching this out on the internets so hopefully the good folks at dvdtalk can help me out.

The BF's 360 died over the weekend - sadly it was not the red ring of death and MS wants 100 bucks (minimum) for the repair. He decided he would rather just buy a new one.

The issue is the new slim doesn't take the old hdd anymore (from what I can tell) and wanted to get an arcade. Now, I know the new slim support external hard drives so.

a)can you run the old hdd off the new slim arcade through the cable?
or
b)can you hook up an external hdd to the slim arcade and transfer the old hdd to it?

you transfer from the old HDD to the new through the cable onn the slim

Right but the arcade only has 4gb - this is in regards to the arcade - not the 250gb.

you want to daisy chain the HDDs together to try and run them both? Not gonna happen.

This or transfer the content to an external hdd (4gb is not enough) that the arcade slim will support.

I'm not positive about the external HDD support...i thought that was only for music/movie files or up to 16 gigs for flash drives. I could be way wrong though.
