Am I the only that thinks Sweet Home Alabama is overpriced?
Seriously. What gives? It's a 2002 DVD, but everyone still wants $15 for it. Every other movie like this ends up on Walmart displays for $5-$10! I don't even remember seeing it on sale at christmas time. What is so goddamn great about Reese Witherspoon that warrants a constant $15 price tag on this title? If the bitch was naked, maybe I'd be willing to pay $15 for it. It should be 9.99 regularly by now.

Have you tried for a used copy? I'd imagine you could snatch a $5 copy without too much effort.

I don't like buying used because I hate ending up with scratched up shit. Half the time these idiots advertise ex-rentals as "Like New." In this case, I made an exception though. I bought it like new from an ebay seller with 8000+ ratings and still 100%. $4.75 and $2.50 for first class. Beats spending $5 for proper shipping on Half/Amazon Marketplace. I don't do media mail, so a lot of times used copies won't save me anything anyway. I find it difficult to shop anywhere but Amazon since I got Prime.

Why is it still priced so high? It's a chick flick that even my brother says "ain't too bad." I love him dearly, but if he ever posted on this forum, he'd make you long for the return of chris_sc77. If the movie can rate that highly with him, then they're probably still able to sell it at that price.

This seems like the type of title that would pop up often in a 2 for $20 sale at Best Buy or something, back when they would offer that on BV titles.

I've asked the same thing about Disney's Bolt on blu, which is still ridiculously priced for a title like that. Considering what Disney has repeatedly done with Pixar titles and classic Disney animation, Bolt ought to have been in the $14.99 on-sale range for blu-rays several times by now. I don't think it even had release day discount at Walmart.
Can't understand why it hasn't ever been discount to a typical sale price.
FWIW, I have an eccentricity about buying movies. If a title has been "on sale" at a particular price especially on release day and I missed it, I won't pay anything higher than that price. I'll wait for it to come back down again. If I wait too long, I sometimes end up buying used.
Which I loath to do, but is what I ended up doing with Bolt.

I bought a used copy from the Amazon marketplace for around $5.00 way back when and it was in perfect condition as advertised. I've VERY rarely had any problems buying used discs from there. BTW I love this film as my wife does. We've seen it many times-

There's also a school of thought among some studios that there are titles not worth discounting, meaning, they feel that the fanbase of the movies is the type that if they want the movie, they're going to pay for it, and the studio may as well make a few extra bucks rather than discounting the title just to move it.
Though judging from some of the comments here, this may not be one of those titles.
I also have to recommend buying used. Here in the Chicago suburbs there's a loosely affiliated chain of stores called Disc Replay that sell used DVDs, CDs, video games, vinyl, etc. Each one has a disc buffering machine and you can inspect the discs before you buy.
