Hell's Kitchen -- 2 More Hours -- "8/7 Chefs Compete" -- 07/06/10

HK

2 More Hours of the Most Shocking Edition of Hell's Kitchen Yet!!

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Because he believes chefs must have superior palates, Ramsay puts the contestants' taste buds to the test in a blind tasting challenge. Although identifying foods comes easily, the contestants quickly realize they are in the dark when it comes to naming flavors. Later, during dinner service, the teams put their creativity to the test when they are asked to create an original menu. Then, the chefs' challenge features an ingredient that causes some contestants to snap. The evening's dinner service provides a new challenge as the teams are combined into one and race against the clock to serve patrons before the last curtain falls during a HELL'S KITCHEN dinner theater.

I've watched several seasons of this show (ugh) and this ep's taste test results are the worst EVER. Who the hell doesn't know coconut??? Every single one of these "chefs" smoke and probably can't taste the difference between dirt and kobe beef. They are suck supremely... is it any wonder their food tastes like @ss and they have no creativity?

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- 2 More Hours -- "8/7 Chefs Compete" -- 07/06/10

Every season all of the "chefs" are always seen smoking. I wouldnt be surprised if its just part of the show and they are smoking the fake cigarettes like in the movies lol

Glad to see Fran and Nilka get the boot!

Plus, I dont see how being blindfolded and having headphones on makes your tastebuds unable to identify simple shit such as a coconut!

Ah HK promos ... you have to love how lack of knowledge/talent turns into "stealing food."

You couldn't pay me enough to eat there. Let alone get dressed to the nines to sit around and starve and then eat raw chicken. Such a JOKE!

Are they not ALLOWED to taste their risotto before they send it up? I'm just so confused. I have never cooked a crunch risotto in my life. It's not hard to eat 1 little grain and see.

I don't know whats happened more, the voice over guy telling us that this is most shocking episode of Hell's Kitchen ever, or someone bringing up the fact that the chefs smoke.

Well and we always see the pleased diners too going "Oh my God! Best thing I've ever tasted!" From what I've seen of the menu, nothing they serve is any real great shakes. They either don't get out much or are hamming it up hoping to get into the footage (like that a-hole dude who came up to chew out Ramsay, saying the meat was poor quality beef).

They are in fact encouraged to taste the food! A chef should ALWAYS taste a dish before bringing it to the pass. Ramsay himself checks as well a lot of the time which is how he spotted that super salty BS that Autumn botched a few weeks back.

Atmosphere Enhances an eatery I am not sure if listening to Ramsey scream is a positive or Negative

In terms of this venue, I'm sure the "patrons" consider it all part of the entertainment - why else would the kitchen be so open and visible to the main dining room. I'd be bored waiting the times they seem to wait for food except to watch Ramsay explode all over the contestants all night. Besides, who really cares what the "customers" think? They're getting free food and drink and a chance to be on TV.

You do realize they're paid employee's of Fox for the most part right, plus on top of that they are paid to eat there. So I'm sure some are there for the entertainment, and the money some both maybe.

This is hands down the worst season ever if you ask me. I don't want any of these clueless retards cooking in a kitchen anywhere.

The best part of this week's shows was seeing the Too Hot Tamales together again. They showed them speaking briefly at their table but didn't acknowledge them at all (though they were wearing chef jackets so it was kinda obvious). Wonder if they're friends or enemies of Gordon's

I don't know...I think Holli might eat everything in the kitchen before she has a chance to cook anything.

Lets face. none of the contestants are really gonna be head chef of the Savoy

No way that happens. They will get a lowly sous chef job at best

They're not paid to eat there and they're not Fox employees most of the time. They are mostly wanna-be actors / directors / screenwriters that are given the chance to walk onto the Fox lot and get there faces seen. Invites are usually sent through the normal agencies but specify that they will not pay SAG wages, etc.

^^ HK isn't shot on the FOX lot. It's taped at the old KCOP studios in Los Angeles.

Most of the guests are people who respond to advertisements for a chance to get a free meal and possibly appear on camera. One of my co-workers got a call to appear on the show as a patron (he actually has an agent), but he turned it down.

Apparently, it's filmed here:
