FYI, If you plan to DVR it as most here do, it's back to just being called "Top Chef" Make sure you cancel your old Top Chef Las Vegas season pass.

I'll be rooting for Nashville's Arnold Myint. I love his restaurant Suzy Wong's House of Yum.

Kevin was a Samurai with that knife at the quick fire. I thought the girl who made the chicken slop was toast for sure.

Oh, yes! And Padma's juggs are looking bigger since she's become a MILF.

Great First ep.

the Mise en Place was awesome quickfire, and Kenny Killed it, killed it.

I think Kenny and Angelo are already setup as the new Fabio and Stefan. Great Rivalry out the gate!

Not good when you make a dish where the judges can't taste the ingredient it's supposed to be based on and 1/3 of the dish was store bought - it was fairly obvious who was going home.

I just hope that the politics tie in as small as possible this season.

Re: Top Chef: D.C. -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 06/16/10

That was a great 1st episode.

Kenny was a fricking animal at the Quickfire Challenge. I was really impressed with his skills. But, congrats to Angelo for winning 2 challenges in a row. It's really early, but Kenny and Angelo look to me like the front runners.

Not surprised about John. I agree with Tom's assessment, his dessert looked amateurish.

I had to laugh at Padma's introduction of Gail:

"The Luscious Gail Simmons"

IMO, Padma looked great even though she needs to work off some of the extra baby weight.

So, you've met Padma before? I've followed her since she was a host on Planet Food and I don't recall reading any negative press about her other than her sometimes "Robotic" personality.

Re: Top Chef: D.C. -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 06/16/10

Does anyone think that Chef Eric Ripert is really strange looking? IMO, he almost looks like a mannequin. Maybe it's because of his really heavy French accent, but I don't think he's very articulate when giving criticisms unlike Gail, who I absolutely love as a judge. I would have much rather seen someone like Anthony Bourdain be the recurring judge (I know he guest judges once in a while), but that would probably be a conflict of interest with his show on The Travel Channel.

At least they didn't bring back Toby.

So, to summarize...Padma's boobs: 1, All the contestants and the food they cooked: 0.

Even if he was eating them with "low fat" pate?

Angelo seems to be this season's Michael Voltaggio. We'll have to wait for the low-hanging fruit to be dismissed, and then see how the rest hold up.
