Martyrs (yet another horror remake) to star Kristen Stewart?
shrug
http://www.totalfilm.com/news/kriste...IMDb+aggregate)
Kristen Stewart is Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey's top choice to star in his remake of controversial French horror, Martyrs.
Pascal Laugier’s original is considered to have set a new benchmark in the torture-porn genre and received the highest ever cinema rating for a native film in France.
Stewart would play one of two girls that befriend each other at an orphanage. Fifteen years later one of the girls decides to seek revenge on those who imprisoned and tortured her as a child and calls her friend for a little help.
We'd say more, but we don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet. We're nice like that.
Godfrey said, “I would love for Kristen to do it.”
Securing Stewart may be the first step towards tailoring the film to a mass audience. Godfrey revealed “I think it’s not remakeable in its form for an American audience. But the core elements of it are fascinating.”
Stewart, has not yet confirmed her role in Martyrs but will be working with Godfrey when she begins filming the final installments of the Twilight saga later this year.
Although i will admit it, i would def see it if they stick to the original

Oh, wow. I can't even imagine how much they'll neuter this one. The original had some good FX but is vastly overrated.

In other words, it's going to be PG-13 and aimed at the Twilight demographic.

I never heard of the original. Reading that it's a torture-porn flick, I understand why.

first.. a Will Smith / Steven Spielberg collaboration on Oldboy... then.. JJ Abrams with Let The Right One In.
now this. can't they just leave foreign cult favorites alone?
fuck you Hollywood, and you're lack of great ideas.

I didn't find it disturbing or especially thought provoking.
The first 40 min. are some of the best horror I've seen, and then it gets boring and quite silly, which is a shame.

I didn't feel it was overrated but then again I tried my best not to know or read to much about it before I watched it. I know there was a big ad push behind it. But yes first 40 mins was the best of it.

So basically the story is some producer says he wants to cast Kristen Stewart in his movie? So do a lot of people.

yeah, same here - i didn't read anything about it. i bought it the week it came out on dvd because Best Buy had it for only $10 bucks or so, and the French had been on a better streak with modern horror than the U.S. it seems ('Inside', 'Frontier(s)', 'Calvaire')

altogether, i personally wouldn't consider Haute Tension "excellent"... the plot hole is atrocious, and really tried hard to milk the popularity of Fight Club's psychological double-identity ending. However, its look and feel and sense of suspense was beyond perfection.

alright, then... given that summary, that makes the plot even more cheap! haha
and Inri, i agree somewhat - 'Frontier(s)' was just decent in my book, nothing really great, but i enjoyed it for the same reasons as i did with High Tension and even Sheitan, as poor as that one was.

actually, it's more similar to American Psycho maybe than Fight Club, but still, the plot seemed miserably half-assed. i don't think anyone would really watch it for the plot though. i do agree it was a fun slasher flick though.
