Hello,
I have a Mirage subwoofer with a lowpass of 150-50Hz range and have just purchased the JBL N38 speakers for the main front speakers.
I just called JBL and they couldn't tell me what the low end of their bass speaker range was! (Shock) I want to set my crossover to get the best possible bass from the from and the low level from the sub...what do you think I should set it at?
Also, I am expecting a shipment of bass shakers (thanks for the thread), and I want to know if I can hook up an extra amp (receiver to the low pass out from my subwoofer and hook up the shakers or do I have to run a line from my DD LFE channel to make this work?
It would be easier to use the low pass out from the sub. If this is not doable then I would like to know what the low pass out on the sub is for.
Thanks for any advice.
David

David,
I did a little research for you and I came up with the following information (hopefully it's the right one): on http://www.onecall.com/PID_7985.htm you'll see that the frequency range of your speaker is between 45Hz - 20kHz. You sub has a lowpass of 50Hz - 150 Hz, so setting it to 50Hz gives you a 45-50Hz overlap but that's perfect since the nominal frequency range of your main speakers is always depending on HOW you measure it.
I'm not really excited about the bass shakers. I think a good sub will do the trick but that's my personal opinion. I also don't know how to connect this thing but as far as I know, you'll sacrifice quality.
About the low pass out: How do I use a stereo low level Input/Output connection?
This method uses four RCA interconnect cables. First, connect the receiver’s or processor’s left "Pre-out" to the jack marked left "Low level input’ on the subwoofer’s rear panel. Then connect the receiver’s or processor’s right "Pre-out" to the jack marked right "Low level input". Then, connect the left " low level output" from the subwoofer’s rear panel to the receiver’s or processor’s "left main input’. Finally, connect the right "low level output" to the receiver’s or processor’s "right main input".
