Empire Strikes Back - Lando wearing Han's clothes

This was recently lampooned on Family Guy, but does anyone know the story on this? I always noticed that Lando wore Han's outfit from the first film, but I never thought much about it. Is there a story behind this choice? Was it done to keep the audience guessing? Was there a time when they thought they might kill Han off and have Lando be the "new Han"? I know Harison Ford wanted Han to be killed off, but did the producers ever seriously consider it?

Re: Empire Strikes Back - Lando wearing Han's clothes

It's really not his clothes though; Lando's got a simple dress collar while Han has this fancy fold-over. And Han has a jacket on, not a vest.

If you can't tell a white guy apart from a black guy wearing the same shirt, then you've got some serious issues man.

Re: Empire Strikes Back - Lando wearing Han's clothes

It's because when Lando finished fucking Leia, he needed some fresh clothes to put on, and Han's suit was the only thing in the closet.

At least, that's the explanation in the novelization. I know that's not official cannon, but I'm sticking to it.

I meant guess about Han's return. Maybe the clothes were intended as a hint that Han would not be getting out of carbon freeze and that Billie Dee Williams would be filling Han's shoes.

At the end of ESB Lando is wearing the shirt and vest that Han wore in the first film...a vest.

Re: Empire Strikes Back - Lando wearing Han's clothes

You have it all wrong.

The correct question is.. "Why was Han wearing Lando's clothes?"

And the answer, of course, is that the clothes came with the Millenium Falcon when Han won it from Lando.

It's the Millennium Falcon's captain uniform.

Well according to the Leah post above, he was filling other things as well. Boo-yah!

That's how I always saw it. Silly since it's a private ship, but still the only logical explanation.

Because Lando fled Bespin with only the clothes on his back. He needed the change and Han had a closet full of black pants and vests.

That and Han probably shopped at the local galactic outlet mall. Same as Lando.

This is the most reasonable explanation.

I don't get why it's such a big deal. Lots of people have similar clothes or the same outfits.

I'd rather know what the hell was Lando doing with Captain Marvel's cape.

Yep, especially in Sci Fi films. BTW, the characters from The Fifth Element are by-far THE BEST dressed and most fashionable of all Sci Fi films.

A Pimp and his Cape are never apart.

...well...at least we have a reason. IT's what smugglers must wear.

Close thread.

Re: Empire Strikes Back - Lando wearing Han's clothes

Wasn't Han in a relationship with Lando before hooking up with Leia? Gay couples share the same clothing. There's nothing wrong with it.
