This doc is currently airing on HBO, and was curious if anybody had the chance to check it out yet.
Future airdates can be found at HBO.com

Looking forward to this. They even got Streep to talk, and she's been pretty much silent about him for 30 years (they were engaged when he died).

I just got done watching this on HBO On Demand and I thought it was a pretty well made little documentary. I've been a fan of Cazales since I first watched Dog Day Afternoon many, many years ago and was glad to see some recognition for him. Although it's pretty short, 39 minutes, it does give a lot of info and gets a little emotional towards the end. It's very sad to think what John could have done but I'm very grateful that we have what we have.

It's funny...I think most people today may not appreciate him as much as they should based on the characters he played and the flaws they had. They just think he may have the go to guy for wimpyish guys? I know at first I did, not that he didn't do great as Fredo but...when that's the only way you see him and then Deer Hunter...you may think that way. It's sad how he left us great characters to study in his short stamp in cinema.

Amazing actor and the documentary made a great point of showing exactly why. I'm actually not a fan of The Deer Hunter at all, but he was probably my favorite thing about that movie. It was really nice to see Streep talk about him too.

^ From what little I know about him, I believe he was pretty reclusive. There probably isn't much out there with him being candid.

I was just wondering the other day if there were any documentaries on John Cazale. I'll have to check this out, though 40 minutes does seem awfully brief.

Just watched it. Pretty well done, and the interview with John's brother was kind of heartbreaking.
Depsite it's short runtime, it didn't feel rushed. The only thing that would have completed it more would be archival interviews with Cazale himself, although many of the participants were close enough to him that it really didn't matter in the end.
