Lets milk the LOST nostalgia some more: what were your favourite episodes?
I'm thinking Top Ten, which most will find harder than it seems.
...(or, if you're HE Pennypacker you can approach it as a laundry list of 110 least-favourite episodes).
Regarding the finales and multi-parters, if it aired on its own night, it was its own episode. So for Seasons 1 and 4 (which had three-part finales airing over two weeks), I considered the first hour seperate from the 2nd part.
10. The 23rd Psalm (Season 2, Episode 10: Eko-centric)
A muchly anticipated flashback way back in Season 2 that came on the heels of a 6-week break, back when LOST had plenty of them mid-season. The writers didn't disappoint, with a moving backstory and a memorable first glimpse of Smokey.
9. The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham (Season 5, Episode 7: Locke-centric)
The final piece of the 'who's in the coffin?' puzzle. I thought Locke's interactions and failure to convince each of the Oceanic 6 to come back were very poignant, and Ben's confrontation towards the end of the ep was one of the best directed scenes of the series.
8. The Man From Tallahassee (Season 3, Episode 13: Locke-centric)
I have a pattern forming of long standing mystery-revelation episodes that really hit the mark. Great scenes between Cooper and Locke, and Ben and Locke on-island.
7. The Incident (Season 5, Episodes 16/17: Jacob-centric)
The first five minutes sold me, with its mythical debate about the themes that would play out over the remainder of the episode and resonate throughout the series.
6. Deus Ex Machina (Season 1, Episode 19: Locke-centric)
More tragic and beautiful for me than Walkabout.
5. Ab Aeterno (Season 6, Episode 9: Richard-centric)
Lost's first real period piece, something about the production design in this one seemed to excel all other efforts before it. Really grounded Richard in a modest, earnest love story and contextualised the Jacob-MiB conflict in relation to our characters.
4. Exodus (Part One) (Season 1, Episode 23)
The raft-launch and Jack and Sawyer's farewell scenes are brilliant.
3. The Constant (Season 4, Episode 5: Desmond-centric)
This Des and Penny classic goes without saying. An exceedingly complex story proposition that was executed pretty much perfectly by Jack Bender, Cusick and the editors.
2. The End (Season 6, Episodes 17/18)
The series finale has its many vocal haters, but for me it was an emotionally cathartic, visually poetic masterpiece.
1. Through the Looking Glass (Season 3, Episodes 22/23)
Nothing in Lost has matched the mind-blowing flash-forward reveal episode and its aftermath of fan speculation and excitement. A series redeeming episode to cap a long run of good episodes that reclaimed the goodwill of its audience. Add to this that it's a hell of a great action finale and features perhaps Matthew Fox's best performance in anything.

I'm not that diehard of a fan to take note of favorite eps, but from reading your list above, I like what you've chosen and can't wait to see what lists other folks come up with.
The one's that I remember best are The Constant, Ab Aeterno, and Some Like It Hoth (s5e13).

Re: Lets milk the LOST nostalgia some more: what were your favourite episodes?
My favorite episode is and will probably always be the Season 2 premier where they finally go in the hatch. That and pretty much ANY Desmond centric episode (Flashes Before Your Eyes, The Constant, etc). He was the best character on that show. Sadly the finale really left a bad taste in my mouth about the series as a whole but I'll always remember that after ALMOST giving up on it after the first season when they didn't show what was in the hatch, I said to myself "if they don't show what's inside by the second episode next season, I'm out". Luckily for me that was the first scene in the season premier.

I'm going to have to go through the seasons again to really pick my top 10 but the top 4 would include (in no particular order):
The Constant
The End
Pilot
Through The Looking Glass
Ab Aeterno and Greatest Hits are in my top 10 some place as well.

Re: Lets milk the LOST nostalgia some more: what were your favourite episodes?
I just started rewatching the series on blu-ray. I wasn't sure if the show would have the same appeal factor now that I know most of the mysteries will never be answered. However, I am enjoying season 1 immensely, and this makes my 4th time viewing season 1.
Some things now appear in a different light. When Jack sees his dead father for the first time, I know this is the MIB and the way dead Christian acts and moves has a sinster feel.
Also one of my favorite episodes is the one where Charlie has to fight his drug addiction, and Locke uses the metaphor of a moth to help Charlie. I realized how the Island helps the survivors move on by forcing them to struggle against their own weaknesses.

"Walk About" was really the episode for me (#3, if memory serves) that "made" the series...for that reason, it will always be near the top of my list among favorites.

I just realised that all but one of my list, and most of the other episodes mentioned, were written by Lindelof & Cuse and directed by Jack Bender. The exception is Walkabout, which was directed by Bender but written by David Fury before he left for 24.

I liked the pilot and the end the best... I also liked Ab Aeterno and the other one in the last season about Ben (Dr. Linus?)
