This movie looks like an awesome version of a Black Mask or Kato movie. This is a sequel to Bruce Lee's/Jet Li's/Jackie Chan's Fist of Fury...Damn, Donnie Yen is a busy man!

When is this being released theatrically? Donnie Yen seems to churn out a movie almost every couple of months (just saw Bodyguards & Assassins last week then Ip Man 2 two days ago. Most of the films he is in have incredible production values plus the action/fight scenes are phenomenal (though I kind of thought Ip Man 2 was a lesser movie than the original).

Sweet. Looks almost like a Green Hornet prequel that focuses on Kato.

The character's name is a pretty big clue that this isn't some Black Mask/Kato film. It's a direct continuation of the hugely popular FIST OF FURY television series Donnie Yen did in the mid-90's, and not the Bruce Lee/Jet Li films, as the OP recently appended to his first post. It also appears to reveal the fate of Yen's character on the series (thus the line: "Wasn't Chen Zhen shot by the cops a long time ago?").
Jackie Chan's Fist of Fury? Presumably you mean New Fist of Fury, in which he played a completely different character?

Brian, is there an English subtitled DVD of that Fist of Fury tv series? And is it worth watching??

To answer your first question, though, no.

This movie sounds like it can be a sequel to both Fist of Legend and the Fist of Fury TV series. It is written by Gordon Chan who obviously wrote FoL and stars Donnie Yen from the TV series.

Holy shit, this movie looks crazy. Check out the money shots in this clip:
1. Donnie Yen rainbow-running away from bullets (45 second mark)
2. Popeye wind-up punch (55 second mark)

Wow...that looks awesome!! So when is this film being released in HK? I give it 3-4 months before I see it in Bluray after.

That looks absurd, ridiculous, and totally awesome!
Shame that it uses the tired old "Japan is evil" storyline. I mean, I understand the anymosity between them but it's still a lazy plot device.

I'm starting to get a feeling that "evil Japanese" in their films is as entertaining as nazis in ours. And nazis never get old.

That's one way to view it. But I still wont like it unless these "evil Japanese" start hunting for ancient religious artifacts with promises of limitless power.

Despite the "down with Japan cliche," this looks damn good.
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/a5ZppQXQP8Y?fs=1&hl=en_US&hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/a5ZppQXQP8Y?fs=1&hl=en_US&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
And, yes, I know it's no differnt than "those evil Nazis" cliche...
Anybody here see it already?
