Star Wars Shadows of the Past: Fan Film

I just watched this short film and really enjoyed it:

<object width="480" height="270"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xd313c_star-wars-shadows-of-the-past_shortfilms"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xd313c_star-wars-shadows-of-the-past_shortfilms" width="480" height="270" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object>

Was surprised at how good the effects were for a fan film. Got a little annoying with all the fade to blacks. Other than that I thought it was well made and look forward to the rest.

I thought it was good, though I haven't exactly seen a lot of fan films of any kind. Someone(s) obviously put a lot of work into it.

There must be 4 minutes of black screen in the first 5 minutes of that film. Fucking annoying. I stopped watching.

Didn't hold my attention, I skipped thru it. Too glossy, no idea what's going on... Simple scenes like the Tatooine stuff from ANH would work best for a small production like this, and just avoid trying to do lightsaber duels or space battles altogether.

Seems like a combination of Aliens (ship design) Babylon 5 (laser weapons) smashed in with a little Star Wars.

Not bad. Definitely entertaining, though I think it gives off more of a video game promo vibe than anything else. Didn't really feel like Star Wars as much as an futuristic Highlander with lightsabers.

Thought it was OK.

The recent stuff I've found: Star Wars Axe parody (two girls fighting over a guy), Star Wars Juno parody, and the second chapter of IMPS (first chapter still was better).

.....Empire Strikes Back? As much as I really enjoy that film. It's not unrealistic for "amateur" stuff to look better effects wise than a movie that's 30 years old. It just takes a of hard work for an "amateur" to do that. Effects wise I thought it looked fine...

You gotta admit, that's a pretty funny mix-up, Solid Snake.

Re: Star Wars Shadows of the Past: Fan Film

well done, but I got a headache watching it with all those fade-to-blacks...

I remember the time when I thought Star Wars was cooler than Star Trek. Now, it's not only equally geeky, but I think Star Wars fans are now more annoying than Star Trek fans...

Re: Star Wars Shadows of the Past: Fan Film

Wow...apparently the prequels were able to suck the fun out of fan films too.

Before the prequels Star Wars was a fun adventure...then it became about brooding characters in cloaks.
