Improved subtitles / translation DVD releases?

Besides the Let the Right One In fiasco, I was curious if there have been any other notable changes/improvements in non-English films subtitles or translation in subsequent releases?

The problem is, unless you had seen it in a different form (ie, the theatre) how would you know you had improper subs?

I'm glad I caught the LtROI issue before purchase, but I'm eyeing my collection of other foreign films and wondering if I was also so lucky?

I heard a lot of Asian films the Weinsteins brought over have really poor translations...

Reportedly the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon superbit version contains the original theatrical subs and not the dumbed down ones that the original dvd and blu have

Didn't some of the recent Miyazaki re-release DVDs have "tweaked" dubs? Like I read they cut some of Phil Hartman's chatter in the English version of Kiki's Delivery Service.

also, the UK version has the correct subs of Run Lola Run (the region 1 version has dumbed subs, and is out of sync for the first 5 min of the movie
