Monsters, Inc 2: November 16th, 2012
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=65424
Walt Disney Studios chairman Rich Ross announced today that the studio has set release dates for Disney•Pixar's Monsters, Inc. sequel and the action-adventure Brave (previously titled "The Bear and the Bow").
Brave, hitting theaters on June 15, 2012, is voiced by Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson and Julie Walters. In the film, the impetuous, tangle-haired Merida, though a daughter of royalty, would prefer to make her mark as a great archer. A clash of wills with her mother compels Merida to make a reckless choice, which unleashes unintended peril on her father's kingdom and her mother's life. Merida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark, ancient curse to set things right.
The follow-up to Monsters, Inc., which earned $525.4 million worldwide in 2001, is scheduled for November 16, 2012.

Not too happy with Disney right now
No Newt or King of the Elves. Rapunzel became Tangled. Bear and the Bow becomes Brave. And a Monster's Inc sequel?!? I love the first one and it can stand alone as its own film.

I gotta admit. While I can see Toy Story going, Monsters Inc. had a perfect ending and didn't need more to tell. You keep going and it crushes that great ending for Monsters Inc. I'll roll w/ it but...I don't think it needs it. I believe in Pixar, they haven't failed on me yet but...this is one film I'm worried about.

If perfection was people, 'Monster's Inc' would be China.
I'm not happy about the sequel. Pixar better have a great story to tell, but how could they after these years and etc?

And the first yr for two Pixar releases... I was dreading this. One a yr was perfect, but I'm betting since Disney didn't have anything for Nov lined up, that necessitated putting Monsters in the slot.

I love both Cars and Monsters Inc but to have sequels for them and not for The Incredibles?!? I don't get it. There are endless storylines that could be done for The Incredibles.

My guess is Pixar may be choosing to let it remain Bird's series and they'll return to it when he's ready. A 2014 or 15 release could happen. They let 11 yrs pass before doing TS and Monsters sequels...

I have to be the lone naysayer but Monsters, Inc has always been my least favorite Pixar movie. It's not that it's bad... it's just how I would rank it among the rest. I can't quite put my finger on why it never really clicked with me as much as their other movies did.
I'll still see the movie, though. Pixar just rocks.

I thought there was a big deal made over the sequeling the hell out of the Disney movies? Or was it only because they were straight to video?
I agree that the Incredibles has the better material for a sequel.

I agree on who said they Thought Monsters Inc ended Perfectly, I think it did as well, but I am happy to see another Monsters Inc Movie, as I did Love the orginal, though I would like it if it maybe focused on some other characters in the world, since the first one did end perfectly.

Yeah, just no more cheapening of franchises with rushed out DTV titles was the idea. I don't think most of us expected that meant an increase in Theatrical sequels though.

I don't see why this is a big deal. Yeah, the first one ended perfectly and yeah it was great. But Toy Story 2 was fantastic and Toy Story 3 looks to be as well. As long as Pixar continues to put out a quality product, I'll be happy.

I definitely liked the title "The Bear And The Bow" more than "Brave," but I doubt that will affect the telling of the story at all. I was actually really looking forward to Newt, but it looks like they pushed Newt back and put this in its place; either way, as long as we get a Pixar movie, I'm happy.
I'm really surprised they are gearing up for a Monsters, Inc. Sequel. Like others have said, it just ended so perfectly. I remember reading a while back, regarding Pixar Sequels, that they wouldn't make sequels just to make sequels, that they'd only do a sequel if they had a worthwhile story to tell. Monsters, Inc. was one of the ones they seemed very disinclined to continue given the picture-perfect ending. But if they are planning a sequel, I have to believe it is because they have a great idea in mind and truly believe the story needs to be continued. I agree with Groucho though, I'm sure it has to do with Boo being an adult and having a child of her own.
Like others have said though, I trust Pixar. They haven't let me down since Toy Story and I don't think they will because of a changed title and release date or a sequel I wasn't expecting. After 10 Movies and about 20 Shorts, I have nothing but complete faith in Pixar to deliver quality movies with great stories and characters.

I like the ideas of a Monsters Inc sequel, but they really need to get on the ball and make an Incredibles sequel happen.

As long as Pixar doesn't become a studio exclusively producing sequels to its earlier work, that's fine with me. I love Monsters, Inc. and hope a sequel can live up to the original. Still, if they also do an Incredibles sequel as is being suggested, I'd hope, at that point, they had three or four originals lined up for the future.

The first movie had an awesome ending, so I hope Pixar can make the sequel just as good.
