Even thought the outcome was rather predictable it was so well done I didn't care. The Gods were great. I loved the porn message, but it made me miss Loki/Gabriel already. I'm also on board with the trap/horsemen plan. It at least gives the boys a plan and it's doesn't feel too deus ex, which with the way they've been painting themselves into a corner was about the only way out of the situation.

I'm not sure if I missed something or if it really was just a random throw in, but what the fuck was up with Ghostfacers just showing up and then not tying into the episode at all.??? That was weird.

I think it was a really bad "cut to" and wasn't clear, but that was a promo for ghostfacers webisodes on the CW site.

I think the Ghostfacers was just supposed to be a commercial. When it popped up i was like WTF are they doing there then it showed the webisode info.

I have issues with thinking the current thing I'm into, is the best thing ever, but I'm hard pressed to not say this season of Supernatural, and really the entire Sam and Dean versus the Devil and God storyline, isn't one of, if not the most, epic storyline I've ever watched in a genre show of this type.
OK, so a few seasons of Angel achieved this same level of a threat, but I don't think Buffy ever got to this level for me. The mayor was cool, but it never felt this big to me. Smallville? Whatever. It's hard to put into words what I mean, because I put Supernat into a certain category of show, but in that category, it sits at the top.
I LOVED this episode, and it was cool seeing the other gods. Shame on myself for thinking this was going to be filler. I wonder where they're going to go with the one god they were able to save? The trickster was awesome in this episode, and it make me sad that he won't be around any more. His episodes always provided a good excuse for levity in the show. This show doesn't need his character to make "fun" episodes, but he did allow the writers some easy ways to make some crazy episodes.
I'm starting to wonder if the Lucifer stuff won't go one more season, as we really haven't seen him that much this year, though Ezeziel wasn't on screen that much either.

^ Yeah, the closest thing I can compare it to is Angel.
What's even more impressive is the fact that for the first 3 seasons, it was pretty much a monster-of-the-week type show which, even though Supernatural did it better than most, can get old really quick. Kripke realized that and with the help of the writers, created this story which looking back at the beginning of the show seems like a natural progression.
The last 2 years is just epic storytelling that most movies can't even touch. Even when episodes sound like filler, they turn out to be the opposite, like last night's episode.
Plus, the last 2 years have given me "On the Head of a Pin" and Castiel.

My prediction is that they'll be able to trap Lucifer in Hell at the end of the season. Since there's going to be a sixth season, he'll probably bust out again before the end of the series and there will be some kind of final showdown. I may be totally off here...

I imagine they'll probably trap Lucifer at the end of the season, unless they want season 6 to be in a post-apocalyptic hell on earth. And I just don't see the comedic value in that. I don't think Lucifer will be the villain next season though. They'll probably move on to something else. Though they'll have big shoes to fill.
I liked this ep a lot, though I don't know how I feel about Lucifer being able to kill gods. Unless those were just their vessels. He IS just an angel, after all. Okay, more than a standard angel, but he's not a god. Still a lot of cool ass-kicking in this ep, though.

I thought that was a little weird too, and I chalked it up to vessels, and Lucifer being more in the fight at the current time, while the rest of the gods were "rusty" when it came to combat.

Re: Supernatural -- "Hammer of the Gods" -- 04/22/10
There is a well-developed thread in Christian commentary over the ages that the gods of other religions might actually exist, particularly the Pagan Gods, but are nothing more than demons (fallen angels) in disguise, trying to lead people away from the one true God. If you view them in that perspective, Lucifer easily handling them is not a problem.
