Horror Express and The House that Dripped Blood from Severin

Unbelievable day for cult horror! And these are definitley Blu-rays as well as DVD.

Fangoria: http://www.fangoria.com/index.php?op...ews&Itemid=167

It’s been a good couple of days for fans of British horror on disc. On top of the Synapse/Hammer and HORROR HOSPITAL news we reported here and here comes the scoop that the Amicus omnibus classic THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD and the Spanish/UK co-production HORROR EXPRESS (pictured left) are also coming on new special editions.

Severin Films will issue the movies this fall with fresh hi-def transfers on new DVDs and, for the first time, on Blu-ray. The films will be accompanied by a host of supplements, details of which are coming soon. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee star in both flicks; HOUSE, also featuring Ingrid Pitt (pictured right), Denholm Elliott, Jon Pertwee and Joss Ackland, is an anthology of four short chillers scripted by PSYCHO’s Robert Bloch, while EXPRESS, co-starring Telly Savalas, is about a brain-sucking monster loose on a Trans-Siberia

Unless they are ten times better than the SD, it's going to be tough to double dip on these titles...especially to BD!!!

I used to have THTDB... now I'm glad I never got around to buying it again. I'm in for the Blu-ray.

I already own 2 different copies of THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD because of the extras so not sure if I'll go yet again, even for blu-ray.....but HORROR EXPRESS is a whole different story. I can't believe it's finally getting a legit label release. I have the Image disc and it looks, well, pretty good but it's non-anamorphic. This is the buy of the year as far as I'm concerned.

Hard to get excited about titles that have already been released, despite the upgrade in pq.

Re: Horror Express and The House that Dripped Blood from Severin

I emailed Severin about these two, and this was the response:
Expect to see Horror Express and The House That Dripped Blood on DVD and Blu-ray by the 2nd quarter of next year.
Glad to see these are still on the schedule.

I'm looking forward to Horror Express. It's bound to be much better than the older Image DVD I think.

Re: Horror Express and The House that Dripped Blood from Severin

The copy of Horror Express I have is on a 2-disc, 6-movie collection based around Vincent Price and Christopher Lee, and that movie in particular looks like it was videotaped from a TV broadcast. Horrible A/V, which detracted from the story. I would strongly consider biting on a proper Blu-ray release.

Has anyone heard an update on Severin's plans for these movies? I couldn't find a mention of them on their website.

My slimpack no-name company Horror Express looks pretty good, considering, but no brainer upgrade for me.

There was a Facebook poll issued from Severin asking which of the two you plan to buy earlier this week. Looks like the titles are still scheduled to be released. Hard to believe it's been a year since they were announced! Times are tough for boutique labels.
