$50 bonus on hardware trade in @ GameStop. Good for older 360's
I know GameStop is not a favorite around here but this is a pretty good deal.
saw this on CAG and just did it myself today. I had a 2007 xbox that I had recently replaced with an elite. 360's are pretty cheap these days and I was having a hard time selling it on CL. With the GS bonus I got $140 credit which I plan to use towards a DSI XL.
The base value is $90 for a 360 system (console, 1 controller, av hook ups and power cable) hdd is not required.
deal expires 4/25, applies to 360, PS3 and Wii. I do not know what the values are on the PS3 and Wii

So what you're saying is the original deal was $90.00 but they're offering $50.00 extra right? Reason why I'm asking is I have a 2007 with the 13gb HD that I've been wanting to upgrade. I can get the 120 HD with transfer kit for around $100.00 but the HD is after-market.
If I can get $140.00 for my current sytem and use that toward a Elite with the 120gb HD I may do it. I may drop by and ask on the details as to what deal I can get.

Better do this fast. They'll most likely drop the price of trade in value from $90 to maybe $75-80 soon. Possibly before the promotion is over.

I did something like that for my PSP, I upgraded a Phat PSP to a PSP-3000 for like $30, the PSP-3000 was on sale that week, and they had a bonus on the PSP hardware.

They do take broken consoles - you have to find out what the base trade in value is. The $50 bonus is static.
K&A Jones - yes, the original trade in value of a working 360 sans hdd is $90 as of today at the GS near me. As someone else mentioned, you should take advantage as soon as you can before they drop the base trade in value.

What is the easiest way to clean up the hard drive to remove all the personal info before trading it in?

Thanks for the heads up, I also have an extra older 360 lying around after upgrading to an Elite. I don't really want any games right now, but I'm guessing $140 is more than you could get on eBay?
Can the controller be a shitty one, as long as it works?
How about the hard drives - could I get more than $12 on eBay (I suppose I could look myself )?

Does anyone know if GS has the "Transfer Kit"?

The rrod consoles are ymmv. I tried it at at a local gamestop and they tested it out and said they don't take rrod 360s. Gonna try the hot towel trick and bring it into another gs.

It's not on the website. Deal lasts till 4/25. You're best off calling your local GS and asking if they are doing the console trade in bonus right now.

Do the new arcade units come with standard AV cables or the HD/HDMI ones? I've got a $25 gift card to GS so I could upgrade to an arcade unit with HDMI out and a new warranty for $35. I can't pass up on this deal.

I called my gamestop today and confimed this deal. The 360 does have to working though. This deal also applies to the PS3 and Wii. They said I would get $110+$50 for my 40gig phat PS3. Not really worth upgrading to a slim at this point. I'll be getting my new arcade unit today or tomorrow.

Re: $50 bonus on hardware trade in @ GameStop. Good for older 360's
Even though I'm generally not happy with Gamestop I traded in my older 360, $140 is hard to pass up. Thought about trading both in, but then I gotta sell all the games seperate. Think I'll just try to sell everything as a package deal there.

that sucks (on the broken console thing) some CAG folks reported success with broken consoles. The value was just lower.

Re: $50 bonus on hardware trade in @ GameStop. Good for older 360's
My other 360 isn't broken, sorry if it seemed I was saying that. However, the GameStop that I brought my 360 to went through it all and hooked it up and all to make sure that everything was working good. Maybe others would have luck with this (or knew somebody or something along that line).

It worked and the next day took it to another GS and got $152 for it. Feel kinda bad for the guy that ends up buying it

I've got a broken 360, it plays games from the HD just fine but it freezes when you play a game from a disc. As much as I would love to fuck Gamestop out of some money for it, I just can't bring myself to do that to whoever ends up buying it from them.

Re: $50 bonus on hardware trade in @ GameStop. Good for older 360's
Last time I checked GS has a warranty. If it breaks, they can take it back for a refund. The towel trick works for only a few days before reverting back to rrod state. And why on Earth would someone buy a used 360 anyways?
