The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2010)

The film opens in limited release on April 9th, which would be tomorrow. There isn't much horror out right now, so genre fans might want to check this one out. It's a fun flick to see with a group of friends. Get loaded and go check out some blood and boobs, you know, if that's your thing.

What kind of film did they use? I doesn't look like typical film stock.

Re: The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2010)

The synopsis I read made it sound like an R rated version of Jumanji. Could be fun.

They shot it on digital but had 35mm prints made for about 90% of the theaters showing it.

Not much of a surprise there, though he does make some valid points. But horror fans will likely find it to be gory fun, if nothing else. And, hey, at least it's not a remake!

Re: The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2010)

Good to see this is finally coming out. I believe it was 2 years ago I went to a panel for this film at Fangoria's Weekend Of Horrors in Los Angeles.

Still bummed I missed out on getting those awesome "retro" posters for the film.

^ Oh, there are still plenty of those around. In fact, if you go to Weekend of Horrors this year, I'm sure you can get hooked up with one.

Opens today, btw!

Sweet! I'm definitely going this year with my girlfriend.

Who will be giving these out (if you know) at this year's Weekend of Horrors?

Friend of mine told me one of our local theaters was showing this. Might have to check it out on my next day off.

Re: The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2010)

Well, I doubt they'll be giving them out this year, but since my friend wrote the movie I'm fairly certain you might be able to snag one.

Btw, looks like it tanked this weekend: $224K on about 400+ screens. Ouch.

Ok it's been almost a year since this was in theaters. Where is the DVD/Blu-Ray?

It's funny that you mention that. I've been wondering the same thing myself. I've seen no indications whatsoever that a dvd release is coming unfortunately.

Re: The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2010)

For whatever reason, getting distribution has been difficult. But I hear the producers are close to a deal with a studio (possibly LG). There's a Thai release out in R3 right now, but I have no idea what the quality is like. Bottom line is that a BD/DVD should be coming within the next few months. Once I know more, I'll post here.

I can at least confirm that a commentary has been recorded.

I agree. Heck, I'm inclined to (eventually) rent this based on the title alone. Plus it looks like Danielle Harris is in this as well. I've always been a sucker for her...

Re: The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2010)

Right now, nothing. I know there's a FB campaign to get the film out on DVD, and there's that R3 Thai release (though I don't know where you can buy it). From what I've heard, the people behind the film are in no rush to get it out. I don't know why, but they're definitely stalled out at the moment. When I hear more I'll post it here first thing.

Re: The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2010)

Thanks for the update, or lack thereof unfortunately. It sucks that this flick is just stuck in limbo. I've found a site that used to have the R3, but from what I can see it's been out of stock for some time. I'll keep looking in the meantime.

Definitely looking forward to checking this one out. Mostly because of meeting the cast/crew at Fangoria: Weekend of Horrors 3 years ago.
