Recommend DS RPGs?
My son's birthday is coming up, and I'm looking to get him a few DS RPGs to play over the summer. Unfortunately, it's the one genre that I'm not well versed in.
I've gotten him all 3 of the Mario & Luigi games and he loves them along with Sonic Chronicles, and he was pretty blown away by Chrono Trigger. He's 12, so I'm not looking for anything super-involved, and he has expressed some interest in Pokemon, despite blowing off GBA Pokemon games that I've gotten him in the past.
I was leaning toward some of the classics and was hoping you guys could help out.
Which Dragon Quest?
Which Final Fantasy?
Which Pokemon?
The World Ends With You?
What else?
Thanks!

Suikoden on DS was a blast. Would probably go with DQ V. The Final Fantasy games are a little more challenging than their original counterparts though I would recommend IV. Might as well go with any Pokemon game (maybe the newest because of the pedometer feature?)

Yup, Suikoden is probably the best original JRPG on the DS.
An outside recommendation would be Lunar Knights. More like Zelda, but includes a leveling system, inventory, and some light conversation. Very cool game.

He loves Zelda (forgot to mention that), and I do plan to get him Spirit Tracks. If Lunar Nights is at all Zelda-like, that's probably worth checking out.
I hadn't even thought about Suikoden...will look into it.
Thanks guys!

Re: Recommend DS RPGs?
Oh, well with that extra bit of info then I can't recommend it highly enough. It's basically my favourite DS game, I got about 40 hours out of it. Has one of those 100 floor tower new game+ modes that I never was able to beat (got to about floor 80). The setting is kind of sci-fi/vampires and I reckon he should find it pretty appealing.

Dragon Quest V was amazing. The World Ends With You is one of the greatest DS games ever made is is a must buy.
I almost recommended the MegaTen games, but for a 12 year old maybe not.

Re: Recommend DS RPGs?
I watched a review for TWEWY, and it looks pretty complicated. Is it much more complicated than Mario & Luigi or does it just look that way?

I thought redos of FF 3 and FF 4 were great. TWEWY is a bit hit or miss. I liked it for about 8 hours but I got frustrated with some of the "puzzles" You had to figure it out the way the game wanted you to not own your own. For example there was a trivia clue and you had to goto x place. Problem is the game would not let you go to x place without going to y first just so when you got to y it reveal the "solution" to go to x place.
