How is the series so far? I don't have HBO anymore. As good as BoB?

Re: The Pacific -- "Part Three" -- 03/28/10

Doesn't feel as personal as BoB. I liked how BoB geared up to dropping them in the war; The Pacific has a few scenes at home but then it's straight on to the Pacific theater. As such you don't have as much attachment to the characters.

But that's to say it isn't good, because it is. But if we're measuring up to BoB, then BoB is better.

It's very good, but different feel like BJ stated. The locale and tropic-jungle setting are obviously much different than Western Europe in winter. However, only 2 shows in, and I'm sure the personal connections to the characters will be made before it over.

according to previews, this episode looked like it was going to be boring. hopefully that's not the case.

That's my problem. I'm loving the action but I have no attachment to the characters or even know there names at this point. Seems like I needed to do some reading before going in.

Funny, I think it's better than BoB in that the character focus is a bit smaller (three primary characters). I lost track of who was who the first time I watched BoB, not having that issue with THE PACIFIC. I certainly think it's lived up to BoB in quality so far.

I kept trying to place the chick in the bar who was serving the guys drinks. It hit me about half way through, it was the lead chick from Wolf Creek.

I was like that with Isabel Lucas because she was not as hottied-up as in Transformers 2.

Interesting episode, but kind of a snoozer compared to the first 2 episodes. The scene on the train shooting the cow reminded me of Full Metal Jacket.

Funny, this was my favorite episode. I can finally at least put 2 names with 2 faces. Felt horrible for Lackey getting dumped after feeling like he had a family.

Yeah, mine too. I was nice to take a breather and get to know the characters a bit. And show a side of the war that I didn't know.

This episode reminded me of this BoB scene:

Eh, not my favorite. The parts with the Greek family were interesting, but the rest was rather bland even for an "on leave" episode.

Boring. The guys land and immediately inserted themselves into the lives of local families? I know it's based on a true story but that struck me as odd. Just a little too much melodrama for my tastes, though it was well-acted & all that.

Horny Australian / greek girls

however - I found it odd that he would be able to sleep away from the base. I thought you needed a pass and would have to be back by a certain time every night.

Re: The Pacific -- "Part Three" -- 03/28/10

CPA, I don't think he was allowed to sleep away from the base for that long. Leckie obviously doesn't care too much about what his superiors think, considering his confrontation with the officer at the end.

I enjoyed the episode a lot, and couldn't stop thinking about how weird it would be to go from the jungles of Guadalcanal to being welcomes as heroes in Melbourne, only to know you have to go back to war, without knowing if you will survive or not. What a strange feeling that must have been.

it was a nice episode geared toward character development, but I have to say I was itching for some battle scenes after the exciting Part Two

As soon as she walked into his room, my wife goes, "baum-chicka-wow-wow".

I'm surprised her parents did not hear her sneak in there. they're weren't that quiet about it.
