Re: Deep Discount Universal Studios Sales!

I'm seen 90% of these titles either at Big Lots for $3.00 or at Walmart/Best Buy for $5.00.

Re: Deep Discount Universal Studios Sales!

Thanks for noting this sale. But mostly these TV set prices aren't very appealing. I'm afraid it's just another DD non-sale sale. Though in fairness, DD has had a few decent deals this year. So far for 2010, better than last year but not nearly as good as 2008.

Really...you've seen TV seasons like House, Monk, Rockford Files, Magnum P.I, Quantum Leap, Columbo, Law & Order SVU, and on for $3 to $5?

While I will agree the current prices at DD for these items is not exactly noteworthy, I've never seen them as cheap as $5, or even close. Let alone 90% of them.

Re: Deep Discount Universal Studios Sales!

At 40-44% I may have been inclined to bust my budget this month and pick up some of the remaining Rockford Files seasons I wanted, but the discount on most of the $40 msrp titles is actually only 35%.
Just as well. Budget constraints as well as a magnificent backlog of content mean I can bide my time until these either go out of print, or they are on sale for 50% or more off.
Last year even shook me out of the mindset (finally) of planning my purchases around a certain summer sale.
If something hits a certain price point I'll pick it up, if it doesn't, I'll wait.

Not a bad price for the Legacy Collections.

Well to be fair Big Lots did have McMillan and Wife: Season One [2 Discs] for $8.

Re: Deep Discount Universal Studios Sales!

DD's "sales" over the last year or so have all been complete jokes. The OP should put the "savings" in the thread title so that none of us has to waste our time opening yet another pointless thread devoted to a flailing company pathetically trotting out endless non-sales to an indifferent public.

Re: Deep Discount Universal Studios Sales!

While the TVonDVD "sale" is more of a meh... there are quite a few good deals in the movies sale. Yes, many of the single movie titles have been at BL & WM for $3-$5, but many more have not.

The film sets look to be some of the best deals. Some noteables:

Abbott and Costello Complete Universal Collection - $64.32
W.C. Fields collections - $32.16
Cecil B. DeMille collection - $32.16
The "Screen Legends" sets - $14.37

It appears that most, if not all, "sets" with 2 or more films are ~$50% off the MSRP.

Of course, almost everything I added to my cart is currently OOS...

Re: Deep Discount Universal Studios Sales!

Yeah, I've been eyeing that DeMille set for a while now and it's finally down to a price I can live with. I think it's about time to pull the trigger on that one.
