Hmm...I jumped the gun a bit. It isn't exactly "it," but it's something. Maybe the first disc (which is the only disc worth any salt at all) will have ALL remastered toons. There is a woeful lot missing - they could have fit the whole catalog of Hanna-Barbera directed toons in one set, but oh well.

How does this relate to the 3 volumes of Spotlight Collection releases? Does it rehash the same toons?

It does rehash the same toons, but the Spotlight collection only remasterd 2 or 3 toons, and the rest looked like they did on TV. Maybe this time, they'll all be remastered. And uncut.

I thought the spotlight sets were all remastered. At the very least the first two seem to be. I've watched each disc at least once with my kids, they have watched the first two sets many times over, and the 'toons seem in pristine condition.

I can't speak for the third as we haven't watched that one and it seems like it was made in a time when Warners was increasingly disinterested in its product.

It's not true, despite what they say or what you think you saw on those DVD's. "Puss Gets The Boot" and "The Midnight Snack" were remastered, and they're beautiful, but if you watch, say, "Old Rockin' Chair Tom," you will see quite a difference.

Yeah, looks like I was wrong. I just checked Wikipedia and some old reviews and it seems they weren't remastered.

I guess it wasn't bad enough for me to tell the difference. I watched them more piecemeal than in large batches, so don't really have the reference to say 'X cartoon' looked better than 'Y cartoon'.

Still, don't think I'll be double dipping here unless I find this set cheap.

Given Warner's track record of late for squeezing every last nickel out of their product, I have absolutely no faith that any of these shorts have been touched since their last release. I'll be happy to eat my words, but it just looks like a cash grab to me.

I've only picked up Vol 3, if there's very little duplication and uncut toons from 1 and 2, then this is an easy buy for me.

So, I take it, the shorts that were left off vols 1,2, & 3, that everyone was unhappy about their omission, aren't in this collection either?
