Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Like I said, I could see it. It's been heavily rumored that Criterion managed to get the rights to the other Malick films (not including The New World), and admittedly, the Fox disc could be very much improved upon...

A Thin Red Line Criterion BluRay would be very welcome!

OUT OF PRINT SALE UPDATE
Regular shoppers at criterion.com may have noticed that Jean Cocteau’s Orphic Trilogy has been reclassified from back order to out of print. It’s true: we’ve officially sold the last of our beautiful white and silver box sets. But we want to reassure anyone who has placed a back order with us that your copies will be coming to you just as soon as they hit our warehouse. Response to the out of print announcement has been overwhelming, and there are quite a few back-ordered titles at the moment, but never fear—we will honor all orders placed through our site. In case you missed the announcement, click here for the list of soon-to-be unavailable titles.

Does that mean we could see Badlands get the treatment too?

Akage, aka "Red Lion". It's foreign and not Spanish so Criterion would like it.

Imagine if they released the directors cut of Thin Red Line. Malick's original cut that was upwards of 5 hours. With the extended cut of the New World being released last year, I wouldn't say this is completly far fetched.

Man I would love to see that cut. Criterion could do a fantastic multi-disc set for the extended cut of the film.

Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
I actually remember hearing rumors that Criterion managed to license some titles from Warner, and that Badlands was supposedly one of them (this came from Richard Linklater, whom was working on an upcoming SubUrbia release for them and claimed that they asked if he would help contribute to their release, although he also claimed Zabriskie Point was another one they were working on, and Warner released that one themselves).
That's a release I've been hoping for for some time now. It would be awesome if it finally got to see the light. On Blu-Ray, no less (as the hint suggests).
