2010 AMC Best Picture Showcase
Anyone planning to go this year? My wife and I have made this a tradition, but with it being spread over two weekends this year, have decided to go only on the first weekend. We've seen some of the films being shown the second weekend already, and just got A Serious Man from Netflix, so that makes it an easy decision. AMC just released the schedule earlier today.

Re: 2010 AMC Best Picture Showcase
I'm interested in seeing the March 6th lineup of films. The problem is finding other people who want to go with me. Although I've seen 3 of the 5 already (Up, An Education, and District 9), they have enough rewatchability with me that I would be keen on seeing them again. Sad that Inglourious Basterds isn't playing on March 6th, but I have that on BD anyway. I'm just glad that The Blind Side and Precious are on Feb 27, because I have zero interest in seeing those.

Not so fast with the schedules apparently. This is now posted on the AMC Website where I believe the OP copied the info above:
We apologize for any frustration you may be feeling regarding our AMC Best Picture Showcase show schedule announcement. We have been challenged with balancing speed of communication with accuracy of information, and we just learned we will be unable to honor the fan-voted show schedule in every Best Picture Showcase theatre location because we cannot secure the number of prints we need for each of the 10 nominated films. We anticipate about half the locations hosting the program will go to an adjusted schedule. We are working to post schedules for each location, in addition to an updated ticket sales date, as soon as possible.
The good news – we do anticipate will be able to provide the program with all 10 films in all the proposed locations; just not with the same schedule in each location, as we have done in years past. Please know our efforts have been purely focused toward providing each of you the best possible experience and the best value for your dollar, because we realize the Best Picture Showcase program is a significant time commitment for each guest who attends.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hah I'm kind of amazed, I've seen 8 of the 10 Best Pic nominees already.

Re: 2010 AMC Best Picture Showcase
So if you say, pay $30 per day, how much of the day AVATAR is playing will count in addition to its box office? common logic would say $30/5 so $6 for every ticket sold, but it's twice as long as the other films and in 3D, so I'd say $12-$15 is more realistic. We could see it hit $900m domestic sooner than we think.

I thought I'd be really tempted here, but surprised to find I've seen 6 of the 10, with no strong desire to see them again, so I'll probably pass.

We'll likely go, depending on how the schedule shakes out. We've only seen 2 of the films so far, but have several either at home or on the netflix list.

Re: 2010 AMC Best Picture Showcase
I don't see Toronto, Canada in either of the schedules on the AMC site, but from what I hear the AMC in downtown Toronto is supposed to be participating. Is there an AMC Canadian site specifically for this?

It appears that Toronto (Whitby 24) is only doing the 24-hour marathon.

Re: 2010 AMC Best Picture Showcase
Yeah, I just saw that too. Sucks, but oh well. The 5-film marathon I would have gone far, but 10 in a row is too much. Too many things I would rather do over 24 hours, like take a shower and not go blind from staring at a huge movie screen.

Re: 2010 AMC Best Picture Showcase
I intentionally held off on seeing as many of these as possible, but still ended up seeing four of them. But of those four, Up is the only one I could really care less about seeing again.
