Fox (and a few MGM) Film Noir flicks on sale @ Amazon $5.99
It's mostly Fox Noir titles that are on sale, with a few MGM Noir pix as well. Had a couple of these titles sitting in my shopping cart for weeks, just noticed a price drop today. Must be an overall sale but I didn't see any specific reference to that on the DVD/Movie homepage at Amazon. Some classic titles here, like Road House, Kansas City Confidential, etc. Personally was hoping to pick up Laura...but dammit, its OOS.

I assume some of these titles may be contained in various larger anthology sets. Don't know, not a serious noir aficionado.

Very surprised to see that Laura appears to be OOP. It still being sold at DD so not sure why Amazon is not selling it. Seems to be select titles involved in this sale some titles such as "Vicki " are not included.

I was thinking the same thing. I had The Night of the Hunter in my cart and noticed the price drop. I looked for some sort of bigger sale, but couldn't find one, so I ordered just the one (have the Prime trial so it didn't matter). This isn't included in your link, so I'm guessing there are even more that dropped to $5.99.

Somehow, I missed the fact that Moontide had ever been released. And now I get it for $5.99.

Didn't see too many of the MGM noir titles at the $5.99 price---just Night of the Hunter, A Bullet for Joey, KC Confidential, He Walks by Night, and (assuming it qualifies as noir) Odds Against Tomorrow. Saw the Stranger, but didn't mention it in the OP as it was $6.49. I'm a picky bastard that way.
Odd man out in the Fox titles was House of Bamboo, priced at $6.99 for some reason.

Cool, thanks. Been looking to fill big holes in this series. And since DD screwed up my order the other day, I'll get these from Amazon, for less.

Interesting that Boomerang appears to be out of print, after it was released then pulled due to legal issues, then eventually re-released. And is now no longer available from Amazon....hmmmmmm.

Ordered 4 of the MGM Noirs since I already own all the current Fox titles. Thanks OP for the post on the current prices. Had some of these on my wishlist waiting for a good deal to come around.

For someone new to this collection, which films are generally considered the best? I may want to blind buy a few.
I still need to get Laura. It's too bad that's not available in this deal... I'm pretty sure it's the only one in the Fox Film Noir collection I've even seen. I loved it when I saw it years ago.

Of these Kiss of Death is the must-have if you've never seen any of these. You'll see one of the all-time great villains in Tommy Udo & then you'll begin to notice just how many modern actors have tried to immitate Widmark's performance.
Panic in the Streets is excellent, Kazan directing, a cool New Orleans backdrop, (I think its the debut of Jack Palance) but I personally don't consider it a "noir".
Fallen Angel is solid.
I Wake Up Screaming is a landmark noir.

Thanks for the input Sessa. I may just go ahead and order one to start.
Update: Unless I'm mistaking things, you've added input on some more. I may have to look into your three suggestions in totality.
By the way, It's good to hear from you again! We've been wandering these forums in different threads as of late, I think. And I haven't been as active lately due to working more.

I've been really busy also and doing a ton of travelling, so I haven't been posting much or watching much, I use to watch like 2 movies a night, the past couple of months I usually watch 2 a week. I've been reading a shit load though (if you are a member on Goodreads I update there all the time).

If you are new to noir, I would recommend movies outside of this collection first.

Nightmare Alley is one of the best films ever made, and for many years wasn't available in any format. Fallen Angel, Where The Sidewalk Ends, and Road House are pretty good representative noirs, and don't have the big build up that several of the other films on sale here have gotten over the years, deserved or not.

I ended up ordering Fallen Angel, Kiss of Death, Panic in the Streets, and Where the Sidewalk Ends to start with. I might have ordered more but I just ordered some titles from Hollywood Video online and B&N. Sheesh...(on my part)! I'm excited about checking these out. I love Kazan as a director, and Preminger (who did Where the Sidewalk Ends and Fallen Angel) also directed that personal favorite of mine (Laura).
