I am looking for some advice on HT Equipment.

First I apologize for the long post. I am very VERY new to Home Theatre Equipment.
I do appreciate your time though.

My current equipment:
DVD Player: Sony DVP-S330
TV: 21" with RCA inputs ONLY.

I am looking for some advice on a 'best for the buck' entry level receiver and speaker set. The receiver doesn't necessarily have to be DTS. If anything I would like for it to be a DD (don't know if this is *standard* or not) for the speaker set I am looking for. I am looking for a *full* speaker set (center, sub-woofer, 4 sattelite speakers). A speaker set with only 4 sattelite and a sub-woofer would be fine as well. Who would you go with that would get me the best sound possible for not a whole lot of cost. I am looking primarily to buy from amazon.com cause I have some GCs to spend on this HT.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is what I got with my Jaboom money.

JVC RX-6000VBK DD/DTS Receiver
4 KLH AV1001B
KLH 525 Center Channel
KLH PSW8100-8 Subwoofer

Not a high quality setup but for a poor college student I thought it turned out pretty well. I don't think most people here would recommend KLH however.

Thanks for the input.
Haven't heard anything good nor bad about KLH.
Any other manufacturers that are worth suggesting?

If all you do is watch movies, then the best bang for the buck would have to be the Desktop 5.1 system by Cambridge Soundworks. The have this system on sale for like $130. They also have an upgraded version with better speakers/sub for $300.

It's really a computer speaker system, but it has a built in DD decoder and 5.1 speakers. It'll play moderately loud and it has no remote control, but there is no cheaper solution to get 5.1 sound.

Otherwise your best bet for a true receiver/speaker package would be to visit your local retail store and look for 5.1 DD packages. I've seen some advertised recently for under $400 at Best Buy.

I'm not familiar with what amazon carries, but if you want a really good home theater, then you may buy the receiver from amazon and then buy good speakers from somewhere else. Some popular speaker brands are: Paradigm, NHT, Definitive Technology, PSB, Pinaccle, Boston Acoustics, Energy, B&W, M&K, JBL.
