I'm going to buy one or the other. Can anyone tell me what the new 840 has that the 830 doesn't have?

Thanks,

Ken

Just a lot a nice ergonomic features. Do yourself a favor, and get the DB840.

Two frequently noted things:

adjustable bass management crossover for the center speaker, fronts, and rears. Pretty nice tweak to blend in a sub.

adjustable equalizer for the bass/mid/treble
for C/F/R speakers. IMO, quite a powerful feature.

Not crucial things - but allow you more control w/o much extra price. Great for tweakers.

I agree. Also, I've heard that the 830 (and the 930 for that matter) has had some problems in the past w/overheating. The newer models have a larger heatsink, and I haven't had any probs.

Also, another little fringe benefit is a slightly better remote. At least I like it...it has a nice little lcd screen where menus...etc can be displayed. One convenient thing about that is the fact that it eliminates a lot of buttons.

I've found the 830 for $350 shipped, the 840 for about $405 shipped. I think Im leaning toward the 840

you can call up the folks at www.soundcity.com and they'll get you a db940 for 399 plus about 25 bucks for shipping. its not on their website so you'll have to call up a rep. i spoke to a person named joe.

I would not buy any Sony AV products unless they are ES. All the others will overheat. Just to let you know.

I recently purchased the db-940 for $399 and I LOVE it. I was going to get the db-840 but when I saw the price for the 940 I couldn't resist. The last thing you want to do is wish you had spent the extra couple of bucks for the db-940, the feeling will eat you alive if you know what I mean. I haven't had any overheating problems either. Check out the reviews on these at www.audioreview.com before you make a final decision.
