What if they re-made BTTF 2 with the original cast now?

I was thinking today about Back to the Future, and it occurred to me that enough time has elapsed since they filmed the sequel set in the future that the original cast could actually play their characters more naturally today. It would be weird, sure, and they'd have to keep the original footage of their younger selves, but I think it would shirk the one thing I never cared for about that movie: the hopelessly exaggerated elderly performances. Thoughts? (Other than, "Dude, you really made a thread about this nonsense?")

Would you want them to re-edit it so that 2015 looks more like what 2015 will actually look like in 5 years? No skyway, no thumbprint entrance to the house, no floating upside down grandpa, no hoverboards, no time machines, certainly.

I want realism in my time travel movies!

Damn skippy! Maybe this is my ulterior motive: to erase all pre-2000 teases about what The Year 2000 would bring us. Remember that commercial with Avery Brooks (I forget the company) in which he demanded, "Where are the flying cars? I was told there would be flying cars!"

I'd only be interested if they got Crispin Glover back.

Plus, I think Fox might have a tough time on set.

IBM.

Sisko was promised flying cars and they weren't delivered. Bastards.

Lea Thompson, Tom Wilson and Jeffery Weissman (somehow I doubt Glover would do it despite all those issues long resolved) would still have to wear prosthetics and pretend to act old.

That's an excellent idea! Marty sees his future self with a debilitating disease that can't be cured by simply not drag racing. Falls into a deep depression, shoots himself. Doc Brown has to head back in time to stop Marty from ever seeing his future self, or possibly hops into the more distant future in the hopes of bringing back a cure for Parkinson's!

I thought part of the appeal of BTTF 2 is the hopelessly exaggerated elderly performances.

His role in BTTF2 was minimal as it is. Since the OP is referring to the 2015 scenes, you'd only have him with a couple of lines hanging upside down in one of those things that helped his character's back.

Wouldn't it make more sense to redo the 1985 scenes from the original film, since Thompson, Wilson, Lloyd, and Glover are approaching the actual ages of their characters in those bits?

His role was only minimal because Crispin wouldn't do the movie. If he had, he would have had a bigger part.

Yeah, I'm well aware of the turmoil surrounding his not coming back for Part II. He sued Zemeckis & Co. for reusing his scenes from this first film after all was said and done.

The OP said he wanted to remake the film with the cast now. Remaking it, verbaitm, would not give Crispin Glover significant screen time.

I just can't picture a scene where a bewildered Marty learns what "facebook" "smartphones" "the internet" and "Amazon.com" are/were.

The most unbelievable thing will still be the Cubs winning the World Series.

Well we are getting close to the "you have to use your hands? That's for babies" line about video games with NATAL around the corner.

And we're already at the point that a arcade game cabinet in a restaurant is considered "retro".

Dude, I'm just an idiot posting on an online forum. If he wants Crispin Glover in our entirely made-up remake, then he can have Crispin Glover.

A good point. Let's do this!

I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now. I did, however, buy into the Marlins winning this year's Series when seaQuest suggested it.

They need to pump out 15 more Jaws sequels in 5 years for that to come true. Better change it to Saw for your imaginary remake.
