Muse's "Uprising" number #1 for five months (and counting?)
"Uprising" by Muse has been number #1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs Top 20 for five straight months. And on the charts for 23 weeks. Is that a record?

I can't getting in to Muse. I don't find them good at all. Apparently I'm in the minority for this? And I heard they're great live.

Its nice that alternative radio is getting a spine again. I couldn't believe how much they supported Nickelback and Kid Rock in recent years. Come on, playing those sort of artists totally craps on everything Nirvana was about, groups like Nickelback and Kid Rock were precisely what Nirvana and co. were meant to rebel against.

AT SEVENTEEN: In the latest "Uprising" update, Muse remains atop Alternative Songs for a 17th week. If the track can notch an 18th week at the summit, it will tie the mark for most frames spent at No. 1 established by Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" in 2007.
"Uprising" isn't the only entry in the upper reaches of Alternative Songs with noteworthy staying power. Weezer's "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To" holds at No. 3 for a second week after logging 12 frames at a No. 2 peak. If it can return to the runner-up spot for one more stanza, it will match Green Day's "Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)" in 1998 for most weeks spent peaking at No. 2.
Only one other song has totaled double-digit weeks peaking at No. 2 since Alternative Songs originated in 1988: Blink-182's "What's My Age Again?," which racked 11 weeks in second place in 1999.

Re: Muse's "Uprising" number #1 for five months (and counting?)
Well, Muse is closer to the genre than Nickelback, Kid Rock, Creed, 3 Doors Down and all the other redneck rock bands that somehow were embraced on alternative radio stations. Nickelback is just as anti-what Nirvana and the whole early 90's rock invasion stood for as Poison and Warrant were IMO. So I see a lot of regression when you hear acts like the ones I aforementioned getting airplay on alt rock stations while Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio and the sort can't get arrested because the stations are too busy playing 3 Doors Down. I remember not even a year ago the so-called "alt rock station" was too afraid to play Kings Of Leon, even though KOL are certainly old-school rock sounding, but yet too "alternative" for Kid Rock fans... WTF?

It's an excellent album that gets better and better with every listen. I know no one who actually bought the album but myself unfortunately.

yes they ARE amazing live, but the last album to me just doesn't cut it - so much so, I'm not buying tix to their upcoming 2010 show (that might change if you twist my arm though)

I'm so sorry you had to suffer through all the Muse threads Lateralus. I didn't see but one prior to this. And that was to discuss their latest album. Thanks to mrpayroll for answering my question.

i dunno if they're airing it again, but MTV Hits had a full hour block of nothing but Muse videos from the latest to i think either stockholm syndrome or an older song that was a live clip

I'm in the same boat as Giles, I still think this is the worst album they ever put out, even after repeated listens and I have no interest in seeing these songs live. I have seen the grandiose moving platform stageshow and it is nice and all, but I'll save my money. Ah the memories of seeing them play at bowery ballroom and their previous shows with lovely setlists.
