Repo Men- J. Law and F. Whitaker as Organ Repo Men

sooo....I thought this was like that sequel from Cox's Repo Man but it isn't...but...it looks good so..yeah. I think I'll see it.
Interesting little bit of info: Whitaker knows the martial art of Kali, turns out he used a bit of it in here...so that's cool.

Directed by: (directing debut) Miguel Sapochnik

Starring:
Jude Law
Forest Whitaker
Liev Schrieber
Alice Braga
Carice van Houten
Chandler Canterbury
RZA

and well the trailer will tell you about what it's about...

Re: Repo Men- J. Law and F. Whitaker as Organ Repo Men

lol...actually that's been brought up a lot actually...here's what wiki said about that:

In 2003, screenwriters Eric Garcia and Garrett Lerner began collaborating with Miguel Sapochnik on a screenplay based on a novel being written by Garcia, which has since been published as of March 31, 2009. However, this movie also happens to be oddly similar to the plot of Repo! The Genetic Opera, which had been created in the early 1990s, and didn't see film release until 2008. In June 2007, Universal Pictures cast Jude Law and Forest Whitaker into the futuristic adventure thriller Repo Men!. The film will be directed by Sapochnik in his directorial debut. Production began in September 2007.[3] Casting for this film was done by Mindy Marin, production design by David Sandefur, art direction by Dan Yarhi, set decoration by Clive Thomasson, and costume design by Caroline Harris. Filming took place in Toronto, and the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario.

It just has a lot ... a lot ... of similarities. The secondhalf looks to be completely different and there will be no grating musical numbers, so it's definitely has an advantage.

At the same time though, it probably won't have Paris Hilton's face falling off.

Plus...it's Whitaker and Law kicking ass...and from what it looks like...kicking each other's ass too. So...that seems like a cool fight scene.

I won't be seeing this based upon two reasons:

1) I already saw Repo! The Genetic Opera.

2) I already saw Repo Men just by watching the trailer and have it giving away everything.

Already like Repo! The Genetic Opera so I don't need to see this.

What a ripoff...did James Cameron make this?

Repo! had some good stuff in it, but didn't do much for me.

THis looks alright. As with any sci-fi premise, it's always hard to connect. Just got to wait to see it.

I know this isn't out for another month or so, but there have been teasers trinkling on TV.

The similarities between this film and Repo: The Genetic Opera are quite amusing.

I actually remember reading that Repo! was supposed to be done at Universal but they balked at the entire movie done in song, as they wanted to do it more of a straight up horror movie

I want to see it. Might be a cool action thriller.

The reviews I have seen are uniformly bad. 20% on RT with 80 reviews in.

No interest in seeing this.

You don't know how much it gives away until you've seen the movie.

Re: Repo Men- J. Law and F. Whitaker as Organ Repo Men

While the premise of a world where artificial parts are repossessible by repo men sounds outlandish, the movie doesn't go out of its way to explain how it could be lawful for such extreme measure to be undertaken by such repo men in repo-ing artificial body parts due to defaulted loans. It boggles the mind that it would ever come to this. But if you can get pass such boggleness, it's an okay "hunter becomes the hunted" story, and it tries to humanize Remy (Jude Law)'s circumstances as a family man in a brutal profession. Forest Whitaker plays Jake, Remy's best friend and partner in the repo business, Whitaker tries to elevate the material, but script doesn't do him any favors. Liev Screiber is an odd choice to play Frank, their boss. The cast is deserving of a better script.

I give it 2 stars, or a grade of C.

Re: Repo Men- J. Law and F. Whitaker as Organ Repo Men

I liked the tone and thought it definitely had some great scenes but it's WAY too predictable... as soon as they mention a certain piece of technology, I knew how the movie would end (and the moment when that part kicked in was way too obvious). Some decent moments but a little too slowly paced overall.

I thought that too when they mentioned it, but forgot about it when things picked up. Actually surprised me. Worth the ticket for the hallway fight by itself. I enjoyed it.

Re: Repo Men- J. Law and F. Whitaker as Organ Repo Men

The movie wasn't horrible, but there's some pretty sloppy work on certain points in the story that they really could have worked on.

For some reason, they filmed and yet cut out any and all mentions of
Spoiler:
Beth being Remy's ex-wife. That's why he helps her out. Instead in this movie, it looks like he just picks up some random junkie off the street, decides to have sex with her and risk his life for her.

Not to mention why on earth he would ever have to pay for his own heart when Whitaker tells him that he was injured by faulty equipment provided by his employer.
