Thanks for the info. That's one boxset I'd grab right away, if it were available.

Damn shame...

Re: Has The Carol Burnett Show...ever been released in a complete series box set?

There could be good news though as it is being released in a sort of "best of" series of discs from CBShow.com. Unfortunately from the commercial/infomercial I have seen regarding this release it does not appear to be chronological or, possibly, even full shows. However this is very similar to the way some large media company released "I Love Lucy" a year or two before the actual 'season' sets were released so perhaps there is hope.

I would definitely prefer to have the chronological series of truly complete shows (including rehearsal footage and outtakes) than a best of series.

Weird, as I was going to Buy.com to get WKRP for $9.50, I saw this ad at the bottom of the screen:

Re: Has The Carol Burnett Show...ever been released in a complete series box set?

From 2002-2004 Columbia House released 31 volumes of The Carol Burnett Show on DVD, two complete episodes per disc, mostly episodes from Seasons 7-10. The first ten volumes had brief interview segments with Burnett, Korman, and Conway before and after each episode; all the discs have brief textras. These are the 62 episodes that were released by Columbia House:

1. Dinah Shore (Nov. 13, 1976), Roddy McDowall & Jackson 5 (Mar. 16, 1974)
2. Ken Berry & Jack Weston (Oct. 20,1973), Rock Hudson & Steve Lawrence (Jan. 29, 1977)
3. Carl Reiner (Jan. 19, 1974), Steve Lawrence (Jan. 10, 1970)
4. Rock Hudson & Nancy Walker (Feb. 15, 1975), Roddy McDowall (Nov. 1, 1975)

8. Sammy Davis Jr. (Sep. 20, 1975), Shirley Maclaine (Oct. 4, 1975)

10. Lily Tomlin & Steve Lawrence (Nov. 8, 1972), Alan Alda (Dec. 21, 1974)
11. Gloria Swanson (Sep. 29, 1973), Steve Lawrence & Paul Sand (Nov. 3, 1973)

This is obviously home grown, but if it's decent quality, I would still purchase it. No studio bells and whistles, but I'd be able to sit down and watch the show whenever I want.

Is there a big risk involved in buying stuff like this? I mean, I won't pay for the complete series and get blank discs, will I?

Thanks, everyone, for your input and research.

Well, it's guaranteed that you won't be getting the complete series as it advertises about 150 episodes and the show actually went for almost 300. Beyond that though, I wouldn't expect blank discs.

About a year or so ago, I remember reading in a forum somewhere that someone had ordered that. They were on DVD-R's, and taped from television episodes of the syndicated half-hour "Carol Burnett & Friends" series, which were just compilations of sketches.

at what should average to 18 episodes per disc, you're NOT going to get decent quality, I promise. Even if it was on dual-layer discs, that's too much to pack onto a DVD.

I'd say more, But I know we shouldn't be discussing bootlegs here.

I just sold one of these DVDs on Amazon for $27 - bought it at a book sale for $1!

She's probably too busy suing Seth McFarlane for a 10 second clip on Family Guy.
