Summer Hours (dir. Olivier Assayas, 2008/09)
I couldn't find a thread for this, but has anybody seen this excellent french movie? It's a small but beautifully produced family drama with a great script that balances worldly concerns about the place for art and culture in the context of modernity and globalisation, though the perspectives of characters that are very human and real. The acting (from Juleitte Binoche, Jeremie Renier and Charles Berling) is superb across the board.
I had never heard of it until it piqued my interest by winning the major critics awards from all three of the Boston Society, Los Angeles Critics and NY Critics Circle, over much wider seen foreign films like 'A Prophet', 'The White Ribbon', and 'Sin Nombre'. I saw it this morning and loved it.
Weigh in if you've seen it and have a take.

I wanted to catch this during the summer but by the time I wanted to see it the only theater playing it was a bit of a hike to get to.
