What's Your One Best Blind Buy of 2009?
This DVD was easily the best blind buy DVD of the 2009 for me. I was ready to blind buy it for 25 bucks, but was amazed to see it on sale for 10 bucks at Best Buy. I can't believe that I didn't check out this DVD earlier in the year. It's such a good show, it's crazy that it didn't get continued (but then again, good shows always get canceled, such as Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared). It's a shame that Season 1 was so short, but on one hand, it can be watched like a 3-hour movie. So I'll probably be watching this show more often than a lengthier show that would span 20+ episodes and 10+ hours.
It may be hard to choose just one, but what was your one best blind buy DVD or Blu Ray of 2009?

Mine would have to be The Big Bang Theory: The Complete First Season
...proof that good shows don't always get cancelled, fortunately.

I try not to buy dvd's these days unless I have seen the movie/show first..
but if I see a great deal on something and only hear good things.. I usually go for it.
Burn Notice-s1... Awesome show and now easily one of my favorties

Offhand, I think my answer is I Could Never Be Your Woman. Yeah, it's a predictable chick flick, but it's fairly amusing as these things go. Maybe it just felt that way because I liked the cast (Paul Rudd, Michelle Pfeiffer), maybe it's because I'd never heard anything about it so I wasn't bombarded with trailers that told me the entire story beforehand. Of course, we pulled this out of Walmart's $5 section and not only do I think I might have been harsher toward it had we paid more, I doubt we would have paid more in the first place.

It's not a new release this year, but my best blnid buy was How I met Your Mother S1 ... I never watched an ep on TV, but knew the cast. So for $14.99 I figured what the heck, and wow was it worth it! One of my fave comedies right up there with the Office and 30 Rock. Working my way through S2 now.

That's hard for me to say... I don't believe in paying over $10.00 to see a movie once in a theater when I can own it for life on DVD for $5.00 or less. So about 75% of everything I buy is a blind buy. I've bought so many titles this year that I can't even begin to think of just one as my favorite.

Tough to say as I've purchased so much blindly that I have not seen yet. For the moment, probably Army of Shadows. Absolutely amazing spook film (if not just slightly far fetched at times) that gives one what seems to be a good look into the harrowing world of the French Resistance.

Mad Men: Season 1 on BD...technically I bought it last Black Friday in 2008, but I did not watch it until this year...the show is great, lived up to the hype for me....

Outlander. A potential disaster avoided with some simple compitent direction and good actors who can pull off decent performances even if the script is a bit lackluster. Thoroughly enjoyed.

/\ Danny McBride and Jody Hill were on the Creative Screenwriting podcast a few months ago, and I believe they said something to the effect that Eastbound and Down will probably only go for two seasons, with production yet to start on the 2nd (at that time).

Re: What's Your One Best Blind Buy of 2009?
Since 95+% of everything I get is blind buy, this is a tough one. I rarely go to the movies anymore. It makes more sense for me to spend $5 or $7 and buy the DVD than to pay $15 for my wife and me to go + the $30 for baby sitting.
And I don't get TV. not even basic. So any TV show I get is a blind buy.
The only non-blind buys i get are old movies that I have seen earlier and want to see again.
In general, I have been happy with 95+% of my purchases. Even if I end up selling a lot, I usually have enjoyed watching them once.
