Re: Flash Forward -- "A561984" -- 12/03/09
Hasn't aired on the West Coast yet, but March?? That doesn't make any sense considering this is only episode 10. There is still 15 more episodes left. That would make the season finish in June.
I guess the Producers of this show and ABC's scheduling dept didn't learn any lessons from the Jericho debacle from 3 years ago when the ratings crashed after a 3 month hiatus. I understand why V has to do it, but this show has been in production since Summer.

Some of this connect the dots writing is really terrible. What exactly is endearing about 20 million deaths to the doctor lady that NOW she feels a connection to the British dude?

I liked this episode. Got the plot moving along with some interesting twists. And the previews look good, too.
Yeah, this was stupid and out of character IMO. She was trying to get rid of him before but now that he's admitted to the blackouts she likes him? And did we see her reaction to the news? I dont remember but you would think they would have made a point to emphasize this. The guy you've known for months and was in your flashforward announces he caused the blackouts and its just "ho hum." If I was the doctor I would be freaking out.

The previews looked good which sucks since it won't be back til March. I was wondering if anything would happen between Bryce and Nicole. He should go for her. She's hotter, closer, and speaks english.

I also liked this episode; very glad that Monaghan did not develop to be the bad guy because that would have been pretty dumb. Still interested in it, but how did the Persian lady and Billy Drago get the same info that Benford had in his flash-forward?

ABC pushes back "FlashForward" return
By James Hibberd James Hibberd
Fri Dec 4, 1:32 am ET
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Some ABC viewers just had a flashback.
The network ran a promo at the end of Thursday's episode of "FlashForward" letting viewers know the show would return in March -- March 4, to be exact.
The spot was similar to the announcement made at the end of "V" saying the show would return that same month. But while the "V" message met with relief (it's coming back!), the "FlashForward" push is being met with dismay (that long?), especially since fans expected the sci-fi drama to continue in January.
ABC wants to get the show out of the way of the Winter Olympics (February 12-28) and air it straight through without repeats.

yeah, that whole March 2010 return was unexpected. oh well. i liked the episode but you do really have to suspend disbelief for this. such as, i don't believe even if they were federal agents that they could be carrying their duty weapon (or any weapon for that matter) to China.

I think another reason the show is getting an extended break is that they probably want to get the show going in a different direction, in that the time the show comes back relative to the date of the actual blackout will allow for a tighter storyline.

Good interview with David S. Goyer on EW.com and he explains the logic of the 3 month hiatus. It actually makes sense considering how awful the scheduling would have been.
Goyer:
We originally planned to come back in January, but about three weeks ago we sat down with ABC scheduling and looked at what our programming schedule would be like. And I think on serialized show like 24, Lost, and Prison Break the most important thing is to air consecutive episodes without repeats or preemptions. To be brutally honest, our programming schedule in January was going to be awful. We were going to be off for four or five weeks [through December and into January], then back on for two weeks, then off for two weeks because of the Olympics, then back on four weeks, off for two weeks again, back on three, off for two again… Our first 10 episodes had one preemption; our last 13-episode arc was going to have four. I just think when we saw that, the studio and the network and all the producers looked at each other and said, “This is crazy.” We’d rather bite the bullet, come back in March, and air all 13 episodes consecutively without preemptions.

Alot of TV viewers who actually devote the time to watching serialized shows would rather see them air consecutively without breaks. 24 did it in season 4 and Lost also did it in season 4.
The split season indeed sucks, but I think airing 13 episodes in a row of FF in March rather than 1 here, 2 there, and 1 there is much better and will help the flow of the show better.

Keep in mind that while Simcoe believes the experiment caused the blackouts, Simon is right: there's no proof of that. Assuming Simon wasn't lying to the FBI, the revelations regarding the devices in Somalia casts serious doubt on Simcoe's belief.

Re: Flash Forward -- "A561984" -- 12/03/09
But given last night's episode, I fear that we're treading into dangerous time-travel territory. "Dangerous" because almost every other show I've seen that's delved into these waters (Heroes, Lost, etc.) have completely screwed up the storyline.
Out of curiosity, are you still an Ayn Rand girl given the fact that there's a strong case to be made that card-carrying Rand acolyte Alan Greenspan and his Randian policies contributed mightily to the financial meltdown?
