Amadeus *single-sided* Theatrical Cut EVER?!

One of the things I'm hoping for is a single-sided version of Milos Forman's "Amadeus" THE THEATRICAL CUT remastered and single-sided.

What do you think is the likelihood of this happening? *crosses fingers*

I'd say not good. There are still other old titles Warner first issued in snappers that have never been revisited for new transfers. I'm still waiting, probably in vain, for The Man Who Would Be King on a single side. Or if they issue it on BD, I'd probably just buy that instead.

They could call it the "OCD Edition".

Amadeus is my absolute favorite movie, and I find the Director's Cut a better film. I have no desire for the theatrical cut, if I ever want to watch it I have a widescreen VHS somewhere.

Amadeus is in my top 10 but I prefer the theatrical cut. Mostly because I've watched it 20 times and the Director's Cut only once.

I ALWAYS prefer the theatrical cut for any film. I love Amadeus but the extra scenes just make a long movie longer. Movies need editing. DC change the movie for better or worse depending on your perspective.

Re: Amadeus *single-sided* Theatrical Cut EVER?!

When I saw Forman speak last year he said the extra scene(s?) was added on DVD because the longer running time doesn't matter like it does in the cinema. He thought that dramatically it was kind of redundant but his attitude seemed to be "why not". I'm sure he doesn't have control over these things but I wonder if he thinks the cinema cut is narratively tighter. I met him but was too nervous to ask him about it.
I've seen the cinema cut countless times and the longer cut is not quite the same film to me.

I saw the play this year and comparing it to the director's cut, there are a few scenes that were taken out that were in the play.

Apparently you have never seen THE ABYSS......that is one film that will make you change your tune about always preferring the theatrical cut....the director's cut is unquestionably superior.....

The added scenes have their own chapters on the Director's Cut DVD. When you get to those scenes skip to the next chapter. Done and done.

They might have to remaster the film again to do the original cut, but when? The BD was released just last year (although I believe it uses the 2002 master, not a newer one). Maybe for the 30th anniversary in 2014?

No, there are lengthened scenes as well.

p.s. I also prefer the theatrical cut.
