Probably take with the new iPod Nano. It's my only beef with that little thing.

I am a massive pinball fan and that is honestly one of the coolest and best ideas I have ever seen for pinball.

Where can I buy one? Now!

I don't even understand how that's possible. Awesome stuff.

Wow, that is amazing. I love Pinball, but I've yet to buy an actual table because of the amount of maintenance required to keep them in working order. Plus I'd be afraid of getting bored of a single table. When money allows, I'd definitely love to have a setup like that.

Who makes the (for lack of a better phrase) code for the different tables? Is that something you buy, or a part of the homebrew scene?

It doent seem complicated to make. Just order a crappy broken table, gut all the insides and put a flat screen tv in place.

Easier said than done. Besides, it's three different flatscreens, plus a computer that knows which signal to send to which monitor, plus buttons wired to the computer in the proper way to control the flippers and the ball launcher. It's not rocket science, but it requires a lot more work and thought than simply mounting your flatscreen to the wall.

It seems cool, but I'm not sure if looking at the screen from such an angle would be that good in practice. You'd have to get a monitor with great viewing angles, that's for sure.

Re: The greatest custom emulator cabinet you'll ever see..

Doing some research there are two companies that make and sell digital pinball machines. Looks cool but then i read that they use proprietary hardware so updating it with more tables is not possible. I wonder if the guy in op story would build one if i payed him...

I recommend the documentary TILT! to everyone about the fall of the pinball industry. This is essentially where pinball was going before it was killed.

I don't see why this type of machine could not be successful now. Especially with Microsoft's Surface technology coming along.

I know arcades are dead but this could really have potential. Since you would only need to create digital layouts you could really customize builds for specific customers needs. Plus you could connect the thing to the interwebs and really go nuts developing online fluff, digital distribution/updates/service etc.

Re: The greatest custom emulator cabinet you'll ever see..

I emailed one of the companies that makes UltraPin Digital Pinball Machine. They said that the new version has a usb slot so you can update it with new tables. $4,475.
Spoiler:
UltraPin Digital Pinball Machine - This state of the art
digital pinball machine looks and plays just like a traditional pinball table and includes 12 mega-classic pinball titles from Williams & Bally Pinball like Funhouse, Eight Ball, Pin-Bot Medieval Madness, Black Knight 2000, Attack from Mars, F-14 Tomcat, Fathom, Firepower, Strikes and Spares, Sorcerer and Xenon, which are displayed in authentic detail, and are rendered using Visual Pinball (VP) software system. Additional add-on pinball machines via
user-installable upgrades will be released in the future,
and the amount of pinball machine tables that UltraPin
can store and play are practically limitless!

This state-of-the-art digital pinball machine features a big
32" 16:9 LCD Flat Panel Monitor for the table display, and
the traditional DMD (Dot Matrix Display) has been replaced with a sharp-looking Color LCD panel, and along with a very unique "Force Feedback System" and a sharp Digital Sound amplifier, UltraPin brings amazing pinball realism into your home or business!

The machine is all digital, so there are no moving parts to break or wear out except for the flippers, digital plunger
and start buttons !

Re: The greatest custom emulator cabinet you'll ever see..

I'm becoming more and more interested in building my own cabinet. This forum has some great tutorials:
