The Office -- "Double Date" -- 11/05/09

The Office

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Jim and Pam, finally having run out of excuses, agree to go out on a double date with Michael and Helene (Linda Purl). Meanwhile, Dwight deviates from the norm, performing good deeds for his coworkers.

Sounds great. Sounds like a recipe for awkwardness.

Of all things the freaking radio commercial for this episode revealed the punch actually happening, complete with sound effect. And I've never heard a radio ad for this show before! Ah well, a good episode in any case.

It was ok. Laughed at 54/58 and robbing the grave.

My least favorite episode of the season. I didn't think the Andy/Dwight thing worked at all and it wasn't funny.

Re: The Office -- "Double Date" -- 11/05/09

I love how this show often takes scenes where you think you know what's going to happen and does something completely different. I fully expected this to be a "Pam is angry during the entire lunch" cringe episode. Instead, it turned into "Michael changes his mind at lunch." Great stuff.

Toby teaching Pam to hit was HILARIOUS.
Ryan's new book!
Great stuff...

I was actually hoping that Pam would punch Michael instead of slapping him.

I thought she was going to kick him in the nuts for making that comment about her mom not being able to have kids anymore haha. Solid episode.

"Shel Silverstein."

The brief clip of them riding back to the office after lunch was the best bit.

I think people are just expecting far too much.

The best was watching Michael with his look of disgust. Great episode again.

"I am not robbing the cradle, if anything, I am robbing the grave" - this is a classic line.

The whole punch Michael thing brought me back to this. They shouldn't have tried to top it.

Or haven't watched Season 1, 2 or 3 in a while. The show is still as funny as ever. And the lunch scene was like watching a car crash in slow-motion. So painful but I couldn't look away.

They've really been firing on all cylinders lately, with a nice mix of office stuff and personal life stuff.
