Re: Curb Your Enthusiasm - "The Black Swan" - 11/01/09
^Despite the fact that the Seinfeld reunion hasn't been as big a part as people anticipated, this season has had at least 3 all time classic eps of Curb and only 1 episode that I would call mildly disappointing... so far LD is knocking it out the park.

I agree that this season is way up there, but knowing there are only 3 eps left makes me wish for more Seinfeld involvement. The Producers and the Restaurant investment had way more screen time than this Seinfeld reunion.

The meaning of all time classic is being diminished here.
What would that be of a show with relatively few episodes per season?
Top 10 maybe with a couple of wildcard personal favorites. There "might" be one from this season that deserves that, but I'd have to go back and watch all the others first before going as far as saying they're been two THAT good.

Am I disappointed with the amount of time the reunion has gotten as yet? Yes. Am I disappointed with the season as yet? No way. So far it's nearly as good as last season.

Solid episode, done in the classic Curb style with a return of the eye stare of truth. And Funkhauser was great, as usual. "You may not have meant it, but you're a murderer"

Agree with gmanca, a return to form. I saw the ending shot coming a mile away. I new Funkhouser was a rat. I thought it was pretty clear that the waiter knew Larry's secret, and was then just fucking with him after seeing the tip.

who can get the black swan running toward Larry and the swing as a GIF?
Fun episode, lots of great LD moments.

We might not be getting as much of a Seinfeld reunion as we thought but this season still has been great in my opinion.

Tips, golf course, funeral/services. Been there, done that. Another pretty average episode. My problem with several eps is that LD has always done shows about his experiences and then exaggerated things to make them really funny. But the premises are almost always, at least, somewhat believable in his world.
The stonemason thing was just not even believable in the world of Curb. The guy had no business talking like that or, at least, not realizing that ripping on someone that the customer happens to admire was very rude. The best shows are where things get out of control without it seemingly being only a plot device for something later on.
Super Dave really looks bad.

It definitely seems like Curb has started going broader and less realistic in its storylines, much like Seinfeld started to do as it went along as well. That being said, I've really liked this season. I've been laughing despite the lack of realism, but I can see where LD might have to start really reaching as the series continues.

Average episode this week, imo. The antics at the golf club weren't enough to keep the full episode afloat. I did like the stare-down between LD and the owner though.

I really enjoyed this episode, and it was great to see Shelley Berman again.
I thought it was funny how he, once again, didn't want to bother Larry about his mother having 'past' on.
Good use of the 'lying' stare, as well!

Loved the dad KNOWING he spelled "passed" wrong but wanted to save the $100.
The email from Jeff to Larry was great too--"Subject: Swan Killing"

I can't believe they put in all the work to get the sets back together, even updating Jerry's apartment, and we've only seen a minute or two of them.

I guess its because I have barely watched Seinfeld- purely a Curb fan- that I dont give a shit that the "reunion" is a minor plotline.
This was the weakest episode this season, but overall its a still a strong run.
Agree the show has gotten more outlandish. Normally that would irk me, but Curb's overall tone kind of allows for it, I guess. Or maybe its just that the breaks are so long, I'm left starving for the show and thus more forgiving.
