Stargate Universe -- "Water" -- 10/30/09

Stargate Universe

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

The ship's water supply dwindles, prompting Col. Young and Lt. Scott to visit a frozen planet in search of drinkable samples. Meanwhile, the crew attempts to snare an intruder.

Last week's episode was so fricking good. I'm really fired up for this week.

they gonna blast off and nuke the sight from orbit
because that's about all that's missing from well known Alien(s) references

so they think it might be the alien scott encountered, but instead of trying to communicate, which they should have thought might be possible based on how it interacted with scott, they just decide to maroon it

they dropped it off in a perfect spot if it needs water to survive. seemed kind of obvious once they showed it was taking the water from the ship.

Okay episode. I take it the alien stranded on the planet can change ice into water. I thought something more could have been done with this entity than just make it the "bad guy" this episode. It helped discover the water on the desert planet but now it is an enemy? I think the writers took the easy way out of this one.

Yeah I figured the Alien(s) would help them again.

Did anyone notice the suites they were wearing were the same as the evil Asguard's suits?

What's an evil Asgard? I do not recall seeing any of those.

sometime towards the end of Atlantis
Spoiler:
Jackson was there and they activated some kind of device and it called in some Asgard in Pegasus that had been experimenting on humans trying to find a cure to their cloning issues. The Asgard had found an ancient device that would screw with the Wraith but had a side effect of blowing up gates or something like that

Ah - thank you for the spoiler and the prompt to where it came from! I only watched the first episode or two of S5 and never managed to catch up yet! I was especially puzzled since, as far as I know from SG-1 through S10, the Asgard
Spoiler:
were all dead now

This feels so different from the first two series. I forget it's still stargate but I like it - more serious, less cheesy. I think water was my favorite episode so far.

Earlier in the episode it was established that the ambient temperature was -47C. Ship personnel shouldn't have been able to pick up all that equipment without wearing gloves, as they did at the end.
