they gonna blast off and nuke the sight from orbit

so they think it might be the alien scott encountered, but instead of trying to communicate, which they should have thought might be possible based on how it interacted with scott, they just decide to maroon it

they dropped it off in a perfect spot if it needs water to survive. seemed kind of obvious once they showed it was taking the water from the ship.

Okay episode. I take it the alien stranded on the planet can change ice into water. I thought something more could have been done with this entity than just make it the "bad guy" this episode. It helped discover the water on the desert planet but now it is an enemy? I think the writers took the easy way out of this one.

Yeah I figured the Alien(s) would help them again.

Ah - thank you for the spoiler and the prompt to where it came from! I only watched the first episode or two of S5 and never managed to catch up yet! I was especially puzzled since, as far as I know from SG-1 through S10, the Asgard

This feels so different from the first two series. I forget it's still stargate but I like it - more serious, less cheesy. I think water was my favorite episode so far.

Earlier in the episode it was established that the ambient temperature was -47C. Ship personnel shouldn't have been able to pick up all that equipment without wearing gloves, as they did at the end.
