The Simpsons -- "Treehouse Of Horror XX" -- 10/18/09

"Treehouse of Horror XX"
Spoiler:
Three chilling tales of Halloween horror unwind. First, Lisa becomes livid with Miss Hoover, and in a series of homages to classic Hitchcock sets out for deadly revenge. Next, Krusty's latest fast-food sandwich transforms news anchor Kent Brockman into an enraged zombie and twenty-eight days later, cannibal zombies have overrun Springfield. In the final frightening fable, Homer accidentally falls through a trapdoor in Moe's tavern and impales himself on the pipes of Moe's microbrewery. Moe serves the barflies a glass of delicious beer flavored with Homer's blood and Homer, now half-man, half-brewing apparatus.

It's nice to have a new Treehouse of Horror air before Halloween.

It has to be because of baseball, I'm assuming.

In the past they've waited until after the World Series to air it; several times it has been the Season Premiere as Fox used to not do any new programming until baseball was over.

Yeah it has to be baseball, but that means no new animation domination till November!

Still scratching our head over that grade... I'd say a C- but then I haven't liked the last 2-3. No good LOLs in this neck of the woods...

Wow, happy XX!

I would say a B-. Beer man Homer was meh. I liked the first two stories. Apu driving the big truck was the best part.

I thought the opening was the best part.

The 28 Days Later story started out strong andthen sputtered out halfway through.

Re: The Simpsons -- "Treehouse Of Horror XX" -- 10/18/09

I liked the Hitchcock "homage" the best.

I really hated the last one. What were they spoofing on that one? A musical? A play?

Re: The Simpsons -- "Treehouse Of Horror XX" -- 10/18/09

I would give it a C+ overall.

Opening - B
Hitchcock spoof - B+, Could have been great if they had put in some good jokes. Still it was generally well done and the animation was great.

28 days later - B-, I feel like they dropped the ball on this one, and they've done similar THoH segments before.

Sweeney Todd - D, Probably would have enjoyed it more if I had seen the original, but not by much.

The third one seemed nothing like Sweeney Todd to me, in plot or tone.

Last one sucked.

Hitchcock one was great.

Re: The Simpsons -- "Treehouse Of Horror XX" -- 10/18/09

If the last one was Sweeny Todd --- then it was just as boring as the movie.

The 28 days later did start out strong - but the ending lacked punch.

The Hitchcock one was interesting.

I do agree that it was nice to get this one before Halloween - when they air them after, it just does not "feel" right.

I liked Jimbo's Halo Master Chief costume. Pretty decent but I agree the 28 Days Later parody had WAY more potential than they actually used.

Re: The Simpsons -- "Treehouse Of Horror XX" -- 10/18/09

I really liked this episode, all of it. I even loved the Sweeney Todd bit, especially how they made it look like it was the Simpsons characters actually performing the play. Pretty cool if you ask me.
