I liked the Rocky III ending and then it becoming unfrozen and Lisa knocking Bart out

I liked the episode especially the segments of Marge's training.

Yeah, I laughed when Mr. Burns was with her.
"Clinch, clinch, clibch!"
Then she was spelling words with the ribbon. also laughed at diet cherry soda and "I had car trouble!

Other than that and the unfreeze ending, it was just OK.

It was a weak episode - would have been better if Homer or someone else was doing the fighting.

liked the freeze frame / rocky ending

I'm usually the Simpsons apologist, but this episode was just awful. Besides being mostly unfunny, it mostly rehashed old Simpsons jokes along with even Family Guy, which did that Rocky ending first.

Although the "funny" left Simpsons years ago, most stories at least had an interesting angle to it. Or maybe something a little heartwarming.

This season, thus far, really isn't doing any of that.

I agree with you it would have been better with Homer doing the fighting.

Thought this wasn't very good... only 1 moment made me laugh - when Homer was talking about how Marge bribed him with an entire cake "She knew my weakness...that I am WEAK!"

This was an HD rehash of Marge versus Itchy & Scratchy. First time, I lost faith in The Simpsons.

OK Barney was at the arena when the fighters are being announced. Then after the commercial, he's at Moe's where they're watching the fight on TV.

Do the writers even care anymore?

Re: The Simpsons -- "The Great Wife Hope" -- 10/11/09

I was a Simpson fan in the glory days, long abandoned it, but watched this ep because I'm an MMA fan too and thought maybe, just maybe, it would be okay. Couple of good lines but overall it was just deadly dull.

The beginning was okay, making a stab at MMA/male sports fans, but then the episode just degenerated, no decent follow-up. The whole impetus of Marge fighting didnt make sense- not that the Simpsons has to make sense, but when you barely follow up with decent jokes, it just makes the whole show look sloppy and lacking. I'd have honestly rather they done a Boxing Homer callback and built the ep around him getting back into the fight game.
