Guitar Hero / Rockband Guitar Compatability

I have Rockband for XBOX360.
I was thinking of getting another guitar.
I saw the George Harrison guitar for $100 but then I saw Guitar Hero 5 (guitar and game) for $90.

I'd rather spend $90 bucks and get a new game as well.

Will the Guitar Hero 5 guitar work with Rockband as a 2nd guitar ?

Thanks.

Yes it is. Rock Band (360) has always supported all the guitars. You'll notice that it's just GH2 and GH3 that were never updated for RB guitar support.

Actually they are different. I think the differences are subtle, but they are not the same guitar. I think the strum bar is no longer hard plastic and more of a soft rubber. The neck slider is now digital instead of analog making it "more accurate." Also supposedly the whammy bar has been redesigned to be more durable.

Are you talking circuitry and programming or the external shell?

The GH 5 guitar is definitely different...the external shell is the same though. I upgraded to it a month ago and it is by far the best guitar on the market. They combined the best aspect of the RB and GH models.

I don't understand what you're talking about if the external shell is the same. What is the best of both models that wasn't in the WT one? I'm just not seeing how you know that the software sees them as different devices as far as this compatibility discussion goes.

The shell of the guitar is the same. What is different is the slider bar (which I don't use)...the whammy bar is much more sturdier and the strum is awesome. It is made of rubber, clicks slightly...but nowhere near the plastic strum of the WT Guitar. The guitar is flawless...by far the best guitar on the market and easily worth the upgrade.

Alright, but those are all "shell". The guts of the thing are the same which is what his question was since it didn't specifically list GH5 as a separate guitar. I'm with ya now.

I don't see how they could be the same if the slider is completely different and digital.

Regardless..I don't care...it is a HUGE upgrade of the WT guitar which was already a great guitar. The GH 5 is flawless. I was always, more or less, an elite player on RB/GH. With the latest adjustments/upgrades to the guitar, I am a much better player than I ever was...it is just flawless.

I didn't quote you or anyone else.

But I do get off on the fact that it causes certain people to get hot..

You didn't mention this. You basically said it was better construction. I was just wondering how that applied to the compatibility question.

I did...the slider bar is different which was mentioned earlier.

The GH5 is the best guitar on the market (not even close) and compatible with everything.

Meh. It still comes down to personal preference.

I've totally grown away from the 'separated frets' that the GH guitars have. It's so much easier to slide your fingers along the 'flush frets' of the Strat.

The sponginess of the Strat is also preferable, IMO. I have the GH:WT guitar and it made some improvements in this area but the clicking/clacking has grown tiresome. I also find it easier to hit faster sections of notes with the spongy Strat than any of the GH guitars.

I will give the GH edge on supporting everything but that's only because Neversoft won't patch the older games for the Strat when they easily could.
