The Office -- "Niagara" -- 1 Hour Episode -- 10/08/09

Jim and Pam

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

The staffers travel to Niagara Falls to celebrate Jim and Pam's nuptials---but no one must mention Pam's pregnancy. Michael, Dwight and Andy seek lusty liaisons with wedding guests, and it's double trouble when Michael and Dwight encounter twins.

I think you all know what this episode is about. Anyways, looking forward to it. I actually like the 1 hour episodes.

Sounds promising. From the synopsis it sounds like Woody's wedding on Cheers, a wedding episode where you don't actually see the ceremony itself. Sounds good to me.

That being the case, I guess Dunder Mifflin burns down in the next episode...

I bet Michael, Andy, and/or Dwight start acting like they are in the movie Wedding Crashers.

I have a feeling this could be a true "jump the shark" moment for the show. Where do these two go after pregnancy and marriage? "Happily Ever After" just isn't interesting...

I've been thinking the same thing for a long time. I guess we'll see how creative the writers can be. Maybe we'll start seeing some "wedded bliss isn't all it's cracked up to be" plots with Jim/Pam.

In reality, I'm guessing the Jim/Pam storyline is pretty close some ending point anyway - either they are written out of the show, or the show is nearing the end of its run in the next season or two anyway, and it's not really an issue.

It worked on Mad About You for seven years. It's a nice change of pace to have a real couple on tv without all the fake drama that usually goes with it.

Re: The Office -- "Niagara" -- 1 Hour Episode -- 10/08/09

All I ask is that Michael doesn't act even half as idiotic as he did at Phyllis and Bob Vance's wedding.

I don't think I've ever hated a tv character more than I hated Michael during that episode. Michael is my least favorite character on the show, but I can appreciate some of his gags and what he brings to the show, but he was so over the top during that episode that it made me truly hate him.

I'm sure he'll be an idiot in this episode too, but I just don't want to spend the entire hour hating him like I did during the last wedding episode.

I'm not so sure. Their story has pretty much already come to a 'happily ever after' conclusion. Pam and Jim love each other and nothing will get in the way of them being together at this point. The show has been good the last few seasons without their romantic subplot. I don't see how it will change very much except for the rings on Pam and Jim's fingers.

I thought Michael was awesome during Phyllis' wedding, especially when her dad got out of his wheelchair. Classic stuff.

I think you'll be disappointed. Jim and Pam are like brother and sister to Michael. I'm not sure you can say the same about Phyllis. If Michael is your least favorite character, then I'm surprised you've stuck it out this far.

My guess is Michael ends up with Pam's mom or tries hitting on Pam's mom. If I remember correctly, her parents divorced last season, and that seems like a logical place to go, especially with them recasting the role.

It's not the "Jim and Pam Show", it's "The Office".

Frankly, I'm surprised too. I'm usually one of the people that come in these threads to bitch. Yes, Michael is by far my least favorite character, followed by Jim and Pam. They used to be 2 of my favorite characters, but that's another discussion. I just like all the other characters enough to look past my negative feelings towards those 3 characters. Plus, I've been watching from the start and although I don't enjoy the show as much as I used to, I still like it more than most things on tv and see no reason (so far) to totally give up on it.

I'm not sure why people think that Jim and Pam's relationship is gonna suddenly be the focus of the show or take up any more screen time than is does now. Hell, the whole Dwigt/Nard/Angela thing got much more attention than Jim and Pam get.

You're right, but I think that most people that have a problem with Jim/Pam are looking for conflict and funny/interesting/awkward situations. Dwight/Nard/Angela had that in spades, while Jim and Pam just have a normal relationship. I know a lot of people like to see a normal relationship and that's fine, but I just think that for the people that have a problem with Jim/Pam, but not Dwight/Nard/Angela it's due to the fact that they find Jim and Pam boring, but they didn't find that triangle boring. Just different strokes for different folks.

Re: The Office -- "Niagara" -- 1 Hour Episode -- 10/08/09

Jim and Pam's relationship, whether they were together or not, has never been funny on its own. They only time those two have ever been funny was when they messed with people. They don't do that as much as they used to, but I don't really see why they couldn't just because they are married. Jim being the co-boss now is probably the bigger problem in that regard.
