Three Rivers -- New Series with Alex O'Loughlin -- Premieres 10/04/09

3 Rivers

Synopsis for Place of Life:

Spoiler:

A team of Pittsburgh surgeons perform organ transplants and deal with the emotionally complex lives of the recipients. In the opener, a pregnant woman suffers a heart attack and is told she must undergo a heart transplant in order to save her life and the life of her unborn child.

Alright, I know what most of you are thinking...."Not another fucking Medical Drama!"

I'm going to give this a try since I liked Alex O'Loughlin when he was on Moonlight and the Creator of this show, Carol Barbee, was a Producer on Jericho and Swingtown.

With Trauma getting mostly horrible buzz, hopefully the characters on this show will be more compelling.

This was a hospital drama that was borrowing the completely fake computers/technology from CSI

Wow, what a bland, boring show. I usually try and give a show at least a couple viewings, but I saw nothing here that makes me remotely interested to watch again next week.

Ditto. Is the Ethiopian guy going to be living at the hospital until they find him a heart? I got the impression he's a regular. Hmm, a private room at the best transplant hospital in Pittsburgh, how much would that cost the taxpayer? $2500 a day?

Re: Three Rivers -- New Series with Alex O'Loughlin -- Premieres 10/04/09

I was disappointed in this show last night too. For me though it was a little different then most, I was comparing my wife's transplant this past summer with a living donor compared to the donor that they had last night.

It is sort of sad they are already going with misdirection as a way to bring people into the show, ie which person is going to be the transplant patient and which will be the donor? It is completely stupid premise that they assistant transplant coordinator would be that clueless at the top transplant facility in the country. They better fix this crap quick.

9.2M viewers last night and a 2.0 in the 18-49 demo, which was dead last for the evening. This will be lucky to make it to 5 episodes at that rate.

TNT did a show about organ transplants a couple of years ago and it was much better. Treat Williams played the transplant specialist and was more believable than Alex O'Loughin.

This wasn't a horrible way to spend my lunch hour.
After suffering through two episodes of Mercy, this was brilliant! I actually teared up when they took the father off of life support. Plus, it didn't have the stupid 'why New Jersey sucks' jokes that Mercy had.

I hear the ratings stunk.. so I'm not getting too attached.. but I will tune in again. It's a decent time-filler.

Re: Three Rivers -- New Series with Alex O'Loughlin -- Premieres 10/04/09

I watched this tonight and I didn't think this was as bland and boring as some of you made it out to be.

Actually this was a much better produced show than Heartland (Treat Williams show) which was mentioned above ^^.

I think there is some potential for O'Loughlin's Andy to be a compelling character. I mean it's hard to give this show a fair assessment after only 1 episode. Another interesting thing is the 1st episode was actually episode 2. Yeah I know, airing episodes out of order is questionable.

I don't know if any of you paid attention to the producing credits, but I was impressed with the creative team they have on this show:
Curtis Hanson (director of LA Confidential)
Greg Walker (former producer of Smallville & Without a Trace)
Frank Military (former producer of The Unit)
David Amann (former producer of Without a Trace)
Carol Barbee (producer of Swingtown and Jericho, who created this show)

Second episode aired last night.... or should I say the first episode aired last night.
Happy to see they finally got around to introducing the new guy, seeing that last week he seemed to fit right in.
Not for nothing, but I didn't see where last weeks episode was any better than this weeks... was it all really necessary?

Daniel Henney is hot. Dammit, why does this how have to be such a let down? Oh well back to importing K-drama's for me.

So we kind of broke the news early...CBS told us we can't say its been canceled

A CBS publicist has requested that we change this post. They claim it’s not official. I’ll just add my own word: YET.

Our source was top notch. It’s just a matter of time before it becomes official.
You can read the comments though and get the idea who said what.

Enjoy them while they last...CBS is undecided if they will run all 13 (well, 12 ignoring the unaired pilot) episodes or if they will just can it early. All depends if they want to toss Flashpoint in early or not. But it's dead. CBS just told us to change the title/news since it's not 'official'.

Re: Three Rivers -- New Series with Alex O'Loughlin -- Premieres 10/04/09

They have 22 episodes of Flashpoint (9 unaired from season 2 and 13 more just ordered), which gets much better ratings. So I would expect Flashpoint to take this timeslot very soon.
