How I Met Your Mother -- "Double Date" -- 09/28/09

"Double Date"
Spoiler:
While on a blind date, Ted realizes this is actually his second first date with the same girl, and seven years later they still have nothing in common. Meanwhile, Barney takes Marshall out on the town, much to the dismay of Robin.

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Double Date" -- 09/28/09

Ted stuff was lame as usual

The other story was good. Marshall's fantasy and then talking about every time he's near a cemetery he's sporting a partial was good

Wasn't a great episode. Didn't hate it but wasn't particularily memorable.

Wasn't a bad episode, but wasn't as good as the premiere.

Best stuff...

-Marshall's doppelganger
-Marshall's fantasy
-Wookie Convention

I just finished watching this episode...told my wife the same thing. I watch this show for Marshall and Lily, Barney and Robin. I could care less about the main character or the premise of the show at this point.

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Double Date" -- 09/28/09

Wow, I thought Ted's story was really fun this week, and I like that Jen had more of a personality than his usual dates. And having the "double date" happen simultaneously was neat, especially when they walked a pedestrian between the 2002 and 2009 couples. I thought "now they're just showing off"

And the doppleganger stuff was great too - can't wait to meet the remaining two.

I've had a thing for Lindsay Sloan for some time so I liked seeing her. Loved the doppelgangers and can't wait for the other 2 to show up.

The doppleganger bit was pretty funny. Rest was just meh, imo.

Doppelganger Marshall is awesome. can't wait to see more of him in the season as well as the other ones.

Also liked the ending with Stripper Lilly and Lilly trading places.

I too actually liked the Ted stuff. Did they actually show the 2002 date back then? I do not seem to recall that one. I was under the impression that this was a made up date for this episode.

They did make it up solely for this episode. Primarily, of course, because the show did not premiere until 2005.

I'm betting slap #4 will happen in the 100th episode.

If you haven't already check her out on Entourage. Can't remember the name of the episode, but I do believe she gets a little bit on the naked side.

There was another show that had the exact same joke about having to kill the wife off before the husband could fantasize about being with another woman. I can't remember if it was Scrubs, King of Queens, or something else. Can anyone else remember what it was?

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Double Date" -- 09/28/09

I didn't really like Robin's reaction to the strip club. She knows who Barney is, him going to the strip club seems like the silliest thing to get angry over. It seemed contrived just make Lilly's reaction funnier.

And I guess they don't think they're lying anymore about being in a relationship.

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Double Date" -- 09/28/09

This episode totally cracked me up. Ted's story was fine, but everything else was gold.

Although I do agree about Robin's reaction. That seemed contrived to me, since she's been fine with who Barney is all along so far.

Yeah they better not ruin Robin by turning her into a normal chick.

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Double Date" -- 09/28/09

Honestly I took it as more "Robin didn't care until she was his girlfriend" which I had no problems with.
