Stumbled over to Target to pick up a few groceries, went over to the DVD section for a normal browsing, and saw the price change on Let the Right One In. Target has been one of the hotter spots to find the theatrical subtitled DVD, so you might be able to snag a copy with the proper text for $10. Not too shabby.

Look on the back under subtitles and check for -- Subtitles: English (Theatrical).

Didn't they brutally botch the subtitles on some editions? I saw some comparisons and it's severely wrong to the point of destroying the meaning in spots. The version I saw had the correct subtitles, but it wasn't on DVD. *cough*

Wish I saw this earlier. Just bought the "bad" version used at Hollywood video this morning for $7.50.

I'm going to try to return it for something else if I can.

I picked the DVD up on release day from Target; watched it that night and enjoyed it immensely despite the English language problems. I was really disappointed with the English-dubbing, and even more disappointed with the English subtitles. The dubbing was awful, but there was lots said that the subtitles didn't include; combining the two gave me a more complete "picture" of the story and what the characters were saying.

That being said, thanks for the heads up. I think I'll head by Target tomorrow to see if I can't pick up the correct subtitles; I'll get the correct version (the complete version) and not have to listen to those godawful dubs again.
