cutting the cable cord
so it looks like it just good ol network television for me. (or whichever stations I can get with my antenna) I had dish network which I loved but I have recently moved into an apt. The service man came today and said that he could not install because I'm facing north and do not have line of site. I've seen others in the complex with sat, I figured he would just point it left but whatever. It seems my other choices are Time Warner and U-verse which are both too expensive for what I want (I only want HD and DVR)
so it looks like I will be saving some money and I will just watch network TV when convenient. I'm kinda sad but this is probably for the best; I could start you know, doing stuff. outside. with other people.

If you only want HD and DVR, how about a TivoHD with an antenna?
Sears is actually selling them dirt cheap right now (some people over at tivocommunity report

Got rid of satellite about 6 months ago. Between my TivoHD, my HD antenna and Netflix streaming, I'm never without something to watch.

Yeah, it still has a service cost. You can get lifetime for $299.
Think of it this way: without a dish/cable bill, it's paid for in 5-6 months.
I spent $199 on Lifetime in 2000, transfered it to my Series 3 Tivo 2 years ago for another $199. I've gotten 9 years of TiVo service for $400.

I think I'm hosed on the sears deal. Closest seems to be Paris, TX with them at stock. (34 bucks!) that would have been sweet.
