CSI: -- Season 10 Premiere -- "Family Affair" -- 9/24/09

CSI

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

The 10th season begins with the team investigating the suspicious death of a young actress who was killed when another car rammed into her vehicle at a traffic light. The evidence suggests it was no accident but rather murder. Meanwhile, Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) returns to help out the lab, which is understaffed due to Riley's abrupt departure.

Looking forward to it's return. It will be good to see Fishburne have a full season under his belt. I thought he was a solid addition last season.

Cast changes:

Out:
Lauren Lee Smith (Riley)

Back in (Temporarily):
Jorja Fox (Sara): Only 5 episodes though.

^ Love the promo shot. Also, I was never a fan of Sara when she was a regular, but I am looking forward to her temporary return.

Well I wouldn't have known about her nekkid scenes had she not starred in the show.

Not seeing Sara was great, but having Riley sucked. I'm glad she's gone, now if they can only bring someone else or use someone else rather than bring Sara back...

No Riley?

See ya and wouldn't wanna be ya. I don't know what it is about this show not being able to convincingly write for younger women, but Riley was the worst for me. Just so snotty and know-it-all. Couldn't stand the character.

i fucking hate jorja Fox. pisses me off that they brought her back. uhhhh. this show is wearing on me. luckily, it's one of the best written crime procedurals on tv, so i'll keep watching.

Re: CSI: -- Season 10 Premiere -- "Family Affair" -- 9/24/09

On paper it was a really good idea bringing a younger/significantly more attractive CSI like Riley aboard. However, she was a poorly written character. I agree with the above comment she seemed snotty and know it all and never gelled with the team. Ray on the other hand, gelled with the team right away.

Re: CSI: -- Season 10 Premiere -- "Family Affair" -- 9/24/09

Great premiere for CSI.

First and foremost, it's about damn time that Liz Vassey got a spot in the opening credits!!

I just had to LOL when I heard Eckley tell Catherine about his exit interview with Riley. The way she dissed Catherine and the team made her character into such a fucking hateful bitch. Good riddance.

Glad to see Ray get promoted to CSI 2

The Stop Motion Photography in the beginning for that Wild Shootout was fricking amazing.

Sara didn't bug me this episode. Interesting to hear that she and Grissom are now hitched.

Good start to season 10

I've always liked Sarah, so I didn't mind having her come back. Had no idea they were getting rid of the Riley character. The intro had me chuckle though..wonder if they pitched it to Fishburne as "hey, you mind if we exploit the whole Matrix thing?"

I actually thought that too when Ray did the Kung Fu move ala Morpheus.

Bwahaha! Damn I hadn't even thought of that! I was like "Damn this dude can fight!"

I certainly agree with these points. Ray is a great character, he's really the lead of the show but as a lower level officer. Having him promoted was nice. Same for Nick.

Geez, they couldn't resist a little bullet-time with Laurence Fishburne on the show, could they?

Did they really need to bring back Sara?

At least Liz and David got promoted to opening credits level on the show for this season.

The genital fondling is real. Anything else is likely simulated--I guess. Looks pretty real at times.

Great start for the show. I just knew the writers had been chomping at the bit to work in some Matrix scenes. It was great to see and was well done. Doc Robbins is a bad mofo, swinging that cane like nobody's business!

Cool to see Ray and Nick get promoted. Also cool that Liz Vassey and David Berman are in the opening credits now.

And Brian Tee is kinda hot with the longer haircut. Just throwing that out there.

Great opening. I have to admit, The Matrix didn't immediately come to mind... until I saw Morpheus, er, Langston, kung fu kicking the guy through the glass.

I liked Ray in the hospital.

I am a doctor. Well, I was a doctor until they forced me out. That whole angel of death thing.

Re: CSI: -- Season 10 Premiere -- "Family Affair" -- 9/24/09

It's interesting - the reason why Smith isn't on the show anymore is because the writers had too much trouble fitting her in and decided to remove her - she didn't leave on her own. All the comments here about her character being poorly written were obviously right on, since even the writers thought the same thing.

Re: CSI: -- Season 10 Premiere -- "Family Affair" -- 9/24/09

Given how little traction these threads get weekly we could probably just make it a general Season 10 discussion thread.

Agree with everyone's sentiments here:
Riley gone
Sara back
Ray and Doc kicking ass
Nick and Ray promotions

and most of all
Liz Vassey promoted to the opening credits Here's hoping she finally joins the team with Riley gone and Sara being a temp.

Re: CSI: -- Season 10 Premiere -- "Family Affair" -- 9/24/09

Yeah since Procedural dramas don't get many comments overall, I guess I can do a general CSI thread next week. I hate using specific episode threads as the "General" thread.

I was never a big fan of Sara, at least it is only for a few episodes.

Ray is a nice addition and good for him on his promotion, Nick too.

IMO, general threads get too off topic if someone catches up On Demand or views an older ep online. I don't like subscribing to threads if I comment on this week's ep only to get notifications for a post about a 3 week old ep.
