This is a great price on this huge set (60 DVDs) - I don't think it's been lower than this, that I can recall. I'm going to have to pass for now with all the money I've spent elsewhere. Hopefully we'll see it drop down to this level, or even below the $100 threshold, in the future.

I bought it for about the same price a few weeks ago from B&N (member price with coupon). It's a pretty big set. Well worth this price if you're a fan of the show...

Thinking about picking this up for my dad. Reading reviews it sounds like there are a number of "gripes" with the set such as being edited and poor audio and video quality.
Anybody that owns it that can comment?
Of course it may well be as good as it gets.

If the complete series is just all of the season boxed sets together, I can tell you that the audio and picture quality isn't stellar. Doesn't really look like much restoration or enhancement or care in doing anything except, "Oh, let's take this old scratchy TV show and slap it on a disc" mentality went into this production.
Still, if someone is into the series, there's no reason not to pick it up. I've picked up a season for my wife for the last three years' worth of birthdays, Christmases, and anniversaries. I'm too far along in buying them individually (two left) to quit and pick this one up now but that's an excellent price for all of them together (I get them for $15-$20 apiece).

HAWT.
Seriously though, the sets are dissappointing. Edited episodes, bad audio and video, a 3-part (flashback) episode is missing. The quality gets a bit better as the series goes on.
However, this is probably the only release it will get. The price is amazing. And in the later seasons, the special features get quite good, particularly when Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder) get involved. Great interviews, documentaries, commentaries.
For $100 it's more than worth it.

If you like "Little House...", another show you might consider is "Father Murphy" also done by Landon but without him in it. It stars Merlin Olsen from "Little House" fame.
I managed to pick them up a while back during a DD sale for $7 a season. Very enjoyable show. My 6 year old daugher actually preferred it to "Little House", less tragedy involved.
