The Devil's Rejects and Rob Zombie's Halloween both have excellent documentaries on the making of the films.

Re: DVD's with good behind the scenes footage?

the Alien DVDs each have a three or so hour documentary, and they are all some of the best i've ever seen, even the one for Alien: Ressurection.

The Thing (Terror Takes Shape)
From Dusk Till Dawn (Full Tilt Boogie)
12 Monkeys (The Hamster Factor)
Taxi Driver
Aliens (Superior Firepower)
King Kong (The Eigth Wonder of the World)
Abyss (Under Pressure)
Black Hawk Down
Jaws
Empire of Dreams and The Beginning (Star Wars)
Magnolia (Diary)
Naked Lunch (Naked Making Lunch)
Raging Bull
The Devil's Rejects and Halloween (07)
Dazed and Confused (Making Dazed)
Hellboy (Seeds of Creation)
Hostel (Dissected)
The Lord of the Rings (any bonus from the EE or the LE)
Psycho
Transformers
X2
The Frighteners
The Green Mile
Zodiac
The Fly (Fear the Flesh)

many more

a few I didn't like. The Exorcist. Face/Off. Fifth Element. Iron Man. Gladiator (this one was just alright).

An American Werewolf in London is a purchase I will be making soon. The doc on that disc is supposed to be fantastic.

Street Trash has a phenomenal making-of that runs longer than the film itself.

The supplements on those discs are outstanding.

Ditto for King Kong: Peter Jackson's Production Diaries, another wonderfully comprehensive collection.

On the other end of the spectrum, I was watching Quarantine last night (the US remake of the Spanish film [Rec]). It's an enjoyable little horror film, and I was surprised that I found the behind-the-scenes extras - brief as they were - to be pretty interesting, given the film's small budget.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Criterion has an amazing documentary that chronicles everything from the film's development to its release.

Re: DVD's with good behind the scenes footage?

The Hamster Factor (already mentioned) is a great full length behind the scenes doc included with 12 Monkeys that follows the film all the way through production.

My favorite part is when the ad guy pitches the tag line "The future of the world is in the hands of a man who has none".

Re: DVD's with good behind the scenes footage?

I was reading about documentaries and I didn't know that the Alien 3 doc was originally titled

Wreckage and Rape: The Making of Alien 3

and contained 30 minutes of footage detailing Fincher's departure, all of which got scrapped from the final product. Charles de Lauzirika had his name removed from that disc. What a shame.

There is also humbug over The Crow, which has a 90-minute documentary completed, that Proyas never approved, so it got scrapped along with his commentary.

Titanic also has a documentary that is awaiting the HD release and some participation from Leo.

i'd love to see each one of these!

Eli Roth takes you into a foreign restroom and tells you that in this particular country, they don't put enough water in the bowl and you can feel the heat from the shit on your ass.

It's just funny, and BTS are usually good for horror films with lots of cool practical effects.

Hands-down best making-of featurette is the 41-min. "Yo Yo Girl Mission" on the YO YO GIRL COP disc. But some 6th sense tells me that's not what you're looking for.

Blackhawk Down

The Making of Documentary is actually longer than the movie itself.

Same goes w/ Michael Lives: Making of Halloween (2007) That Documentary runs almost 4 1/2 hours.
